That's not seeing how he treats his audience on the regular. If he was just some retard there would be fewer people shitting on him, if he was just some retard he'd have more fans and followers.
The world is a dense place with a lot of information to take in, in this case you're totally out of your depth and I don't have the desire to spoonfeed you the hours of content DSP makes public (along with countless detractor channels) documenting him manipulating and abusing his audience.
You seem to think that just because DSP isn't in a romantic relationship with his audience he can't gaslight them which is autistic as fuck. Still waiting for that definition of gaslighting by the way. Any day now.
I mean, you're not wrong that Phil abuses his audience, but we also routinely call them retards, paypigs, autists, wheelchairs, imply they are too stupid to work and only live on disability checks and routinely dox them. Some have full threads dedicated to them where we continue to insult them, and when they come here admitting they were wrong, they're routinely told to kill themselves for being stupid. I'm not sure what the original context was, but it does strike me as a little hypocritical that some people are suddenly acting like they give a shit about Phil's audience and feel bad for them, or that they only dislike Phil because he's mean to his audience.
As far as gaslighting goes...eh, I think it's a stretch. Gaslighting is typically repeated lies to make someone question what they thought was real. It takes forethought and is more of an active campaign. IIRC, the actual term was from a story where a husband kept changing the amount of light visible from his gaslight and every time his wife mentioned it, he disagreed with her and either said it was the same or insisted she was the only one who could see the light or something. It was a long term plan to make her think she was hallucinating it.
In comparison, Phil is just a chronic liar. And a really bad one at that. He will absolutely say something then less than 10 seconds later claim he didn't say that and whoever accused him of it is a moron. But, that's only because what he said was really dumb and he's embarrassed by it, and because he is such a bad liar, all he knows how to do is deny it never happened and ban the person. I'd say it isn't gaslighting because he didn't say the original dumb thing with the intent to retcon it moments later and make his viewers question their reality.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to defend Phil, and I certainly don't think he is a good person. But I also don't think he's a horrific monster. Even in terms of grifters, I think he's fairly light compared to a lot of other cows on this site. I think it circles back to Phil being such a terrible liar. I've mentioned it in other threads, but I don't think anyone supporting Phil now does so because they actually think he's unable to pay his daily bills and mortgage and can't afford breakfast for his wife. And that's also the big reason why we call them autists, paypigs, wheelchairs etc. I'd even go so far as to argue a significant portion of them fully know Phil is awful with money and lying. I'll take it one step further and say a lot of them don't even care that much about Phil as a person, but they like LARPing as bully hunters or whatever and pretending they're on some grand crusade by "defending" him.
Basically, Phil is a shit person, but he's not a menace to society or anything.
