Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Sounds like the US in present day.

Well.... yeah.

Democrats are racing to avert the bad PR from the Iron Dome being cut and will bring it up as its own thing: https://www.timesofisrael.com/us-ho...raise-iron-dome-funding-for-a-vote-this-week/

US House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said Tuesday the $1 billion funding of Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system would be brought for a separate vote this week after it was left off a government spending bill.

Speaking on the House floor, Hoyer said he would bring the replenishing of Iron Dome as a standalone vote later this week. The announcement was made amid pressure from pro-Israel Democratic Reps. Ted Deutch, Kathy Manning, Josh Gottheimer, Ritchie Torres, Brad Schneider and others who were livid over the decision to leave the funding for Israel’s defense off the spending bill.

“It is my intention to bring to this floor a suspension bill before the end of this week that will fund fully Iron Dome. I was for that. I’m still for it, we ought to do it,” said Hoyer. “I talked to the foreign minister, Mr. Lapid, just two hours ago and assured him that bill was going to pass this House.”

Yair Lapid was told it was held up due to "technical issues" but would pass soon. Israel must be fucking pissed, originally the cut Iron Dome funding would have been attached to the 2022 Defense Appropriations Bill. For the Democrats to rush it through the House this week must mean that they are scrambling for this. I think AOC/the Squad fucked up harder than they realized.

Extremely. The Democrats just essentially told Israelis that they want them to be defenseless when the next war with Hamas comes and rockets are raining down on their heads. Israelis already didn't like the Democrats but the Democrats have never indirectly called for Israeli property and lives to be put at risk for essentially no reason. The Iron Dome is an entirely defensive system and for Israel, Iron Dome is the reason why they can still feel safe even when they are actively being shot at by Hamas. Ironically, by calling for the defunding of Iron Dome because of the "high" (actually extremely low) civilian casualities and attacks on the "media" (AP has been whistleblown to regularly work with Hamas to whitewash the news + Palestine is ground zero for the globalhomo news we see today), AOC/Squad is directly calling for more Palestinian deaths. When Iron Dome is shooting down rockets, people are okay with targeted airstrikes. When rockets are raining down with nothing to protect, Israelis will demand a ground invasion.

Essentially Democrats told Israelis they want them all to lose their sense of safety and that they will punish Israel even for precise airstrikes against Palestinians. They cannot come back from that.
Apparently the DNC forgot that Israel is very aggressive on their red lines. I know I haven't forgotten when they tried to push LGBT shit there and jewish groups cut that funding for groups acting there posthaste.

Why exactly should we be paying for Israels defense again? Did they become an American territory while I wasn't looking?

What? Tel Aviv is literally referred to as the gayest city on earth and makes the top of LGBT tourist destinations all the time. IDF fully supports LGBT people to the point of funding SRS for a ftm soldier. I think that ship has sailed a long time ago for Israel lmao

Realistically, Israel stands as the only footing in an extremely hostile area. An area rife with terrorism and death. Israel, in terms of Realpolitik, is the only good one to align with. It's internally stable, decently wealthy, completely at our mercy for defense. Additionally, it acts as a bulwark and most importantly a -focus-. So long as the Middle-East focuses on Israel, it's causing less problems for the rest of the world. See ISIS for what happens when they look away from it.

It's not so much that the Americans should. It's just amusing that the Democrats thought they can piss off the Israel-First lobby without consequences.
Well the Israel First lobby is not long for this world on the Democrat's side. The old generation of boomer politicians is almost over, the new generation is exclusively Pro-Palestine.

I think this basically proves Jack Posobiec was telling the truth when his source said Israel was threatening pulling their ambassadors. Imagine the optics of having both France and Israel recall their ambassadors in the same week.

Soros told Pelosi to get that shit fixed ASAP after that meeting they had.

In realpolitik? Israel's right next to the Suez Canal and is -the- linchpin the USA has in the middle east - the only closer ally the US has is Japan.

It was either that or BLM, but point being Israel does not want any of the virus destroying the West to fuck them up.

Don't forget the proximity to the Suez Canal and the US Navy's role in maintaining the world's shipping lanes.

Israeli defense funding is often a veiled giveaway to American defense companies. Plus having them to test Iron Dome in live fire can be helpful since the US bought a few systems.
