"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

Not sure to what extent we're allowed to discuss the Gumroad-exclusive video, so I'll vaguepost: The parts where you speak are much louder than the video you're commenting on, to the extent where I was adjusting the volume between the two until I settled on a point where you were slightly too loud and the video was slightly too quiet. If you do eventually repost it elsewhere I suggest tweaking the audio levels a bit.

Other than that, I enjoyed it. It's puzzling why anyone would want to watch stuff like that source video, but I guess the person who made it has sort of typecast himself and rather than try to break out of it, he's decided to just dig the hole deeper and take the easy paychecks.

Yeah I should have archived it. There was no outright hortler-haleing but the divorce from Libertarianism is pretty well established by his emphasis on tradition and family in the post. Similar stuff to what's been talked about in a bunch of MATI episodes til now really.

So I'm guessing we're allowed to talk about it. And I agree the audio levels were really weird. I ended up just turning my volume all the way up as I found Null's voice less grating than straining my ears to hear the movie. Not sure if it's just a problem with Gumroad's video player or if Null kept the audio levels down for his sensitive boy ears.

On the topic I'm trying to figure out how you fix the movie to talk about racism while also not butchering your point. I think you can have racist cops but you can't just make them overtly racist. Have them shoot Anthony while he's defending his girlfriend and the cops are trying to justify their actions as self defense. She knows the truth and they try to gaslight her rather than sticking her in cuffs in the back of a squad car and threatening her. I also hate how they make the downtown Chicago cops the whitest police force to ever walk the planet. Have a black cop. Black cops can be racist too; take a look at Lil' Wayne's story.
Then you could have a conversation about betraying your community for a quick buck.

I think there's a better alternative though. Neo Nazi bikers are a thing and something that has been underutilized as of late. Instead of our protagonist being mad that art critics said no to his art and 4 random white girls get murdered just because, have the protagonist be a street artist that puts up graffiti symbolizing the struggles of his community. Racist white bikers ruin his tags and break his hands or something, and then go from there. Heck you could even replace the random white girls getting gutted by a group of bikers beating up a homeless black man. Something less benign but more worthy of punishment.

I dunno I'm just throwing out a few ideas. I think the protagonist being an artist isn't the worst as it fits in with the other movies but having the wrong done against him be so benign really sours me.

What would a racist biker gang be doing in urban Chicago, though? Really, I think the premise of setting it in Chicago in the first place kind of precludes you from having most of the huwite people in the movie (who are a minority in Chicago proper, aren't they?) being racist, since that would be a very difficult place for a yt who's really bothered by the idea of interacting with non-whites to live. And yes, of course not all the police will be white either. The whole conceit falls apart unless you really believe that even white people who choose to live in a "chocolate city" have nothing better to do than mess with blacks all day. Does Jordan Peele really think that?

Racist biker gang rides into town for biker reasons is more sensible than white people who choose to live in Chicago just all secretly hate African Americans. The argument of he’s trying to enter “higher society” might make some sense as to why they are holding him back, but again if you are a white person living in Chicago you probably aren’t a racist and the protagonist himself wasn’t living in the ghetto he had a nicely furnished apartment.

racist bikers I think also provide more morally acceptable kills. Null mentioned this. The cops probably have families and the wholesale slaughter of them means you don’t really care about the greater ramifications of murdering husbands/fathers who are doing a job. Say what you will about the cops being racist but at the same time they’re in those positions for money, not to be racist. The racism is a secondary act for them and can be interpreted as a learned trait from the job.

who is more acceptable to murder for being racist: four clean cut cops who are terrible at their jobs, or a bunch of tattooed bikers covered in swastikas that are racist because they are naturally racist? Audiences are gonna take one look at the two and probably pick the overt racists. It’s why the overt racism by the police is so jarring in the movie. If they’d made it a subtle racism it would be more understandable but they didn’t go for that.

My big bro always played support because it let him play how the team needed. He could be the one doing all the fighting or he could take a step back and berate other people for not doing what they were supposed to do.

My experience comes from League, not Dota2, but nothing beats having picked a support to help your team.
Then getting yelled at when you score a doube kill as the support after your ADC messes up
(Not that I was always flawless).
