I don't think his PCP is actually pushing the surgery. By all accounts most of these surgeries fucking suck and have a long-lasting medical repercussions and impact on the life quality of the patient, all of this in addition to Lardo being a generally unreliable narrator. Just like the "grazing" comment he misunderstood this could be a warning instead: "you're X pounds too fat, in fact you're so fucking fat you'd have to lose a hundred and fifty pounds for bariatric surgery to be on the table". Yeah, just like another fat grifter, Boogie2988. IIRC that wild hambeast had to lose at least a hundred or so. Losing weight before such surgery isn't just to prove his willingness to commit, it's also to ensure he won't croak in the OR. I'm fairly certain Lou's lardy heart couldn't take any kind of invasive surgery.

TL;DR I think he's bullshitting as usual, for several reasons.

Yeah, it’s an arduous process. I was on the EASY side of the surgery — barely qualified, but diet and exercise alone just weren’t cutting it. Still dropped ~40 lbs before surgery, and I didn’t have to. But it helped.

Guaranteed, Lou has one HELL of a fatty liver, and it would be a two week liquid diet to shrink that fucker down sufficiently for safe movement during a bariatric procedure. IF he got there, given his non-compliant behavior, overall.

Likely, part of the reason that he doesn’t want to do the surgery is because not only does he know that it’s a lot of work, but if he goes for a healthier him, he can’t use his health as a grift anymore. WLS tends to put diabetes into remission, especially if you stick with the diet and exercise regularly. It would take away all of his excuses.

Lotion wont help his foot hole, but diabetics need to moisturise and take care of their feet as any wound will have poor healing. So, things like cracked skin that wouldnt be a problem for a healthy person, could actually turn bad for a diabetic with neuropathy like lou
