There is some of that going on and gfms definitely get seed or have loans taken out to put them over the top, but it isn't just that. John Holiday aka TransEthics is an example of a dude who's been begging for booze money multiple times a week for years. There was a related group that someone did an analysis using 2015 leaked patreon data and found that there wasn't the mass recycling of money going on that everyone assumed. It don't think it was troons, but it was another cohort of lazy leftists. I forget what thread it was talked about in.
A little belated, but a comment on this note: the comics industry was in fact disrupted by the pandemic for a few months in 2020, but normal service resumed more than a year ago now. Mags' career was disrupted by nobody buying his comics and publishers running out of patience with his bullshit.
Neil wrote A Game of You waaaay back before trannies like Mags infected comics. The only trans person I can recall around that is Rachael Pollack, who worked mainly on Doom Patrol at the end of its run.Mags.
