I maintain that almost everyone who uses the ignore list ends up clicking through to read many of the posts anyway.

It also has the secondary problem of the truism that many people who use it can't keep their mouths shut about how they put user XYZ on ignore. That's admitting their posting bothered you. That is arguably the most pathetic thing of all.
