NeoGAF & ResetERA - The Hilarious N̶e̶v̶e̶r̶e̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ Splintering "Gaming" Forum Circus

According to some informations, some mods and admin do get paid. A handful of them. Not sure if true, but it's been circulating for a few hours on some discord.

It wasn't really independent of this - the quotes they used to bring down Morrigan were her calling the members upset about all that previous mod misbehaviour in the SalesEra section "manbabies" and "cunts". Also, that anyone from whatever Discord channel this was in who went to bat for the mods in those threads were guaranteed not to be banned, with what that implies about how far they could go vs. how far anyone complaining about the moderation could go in their posts.

Basically, the whole thing has been because the mods have been acting the way we all knew they did, as power-hungry, grudge-holding assholes drunk on their tiny amount of power. But when that was exposed - not at all for the first time, either - the mods first tried to bully, then equivocate and gaslight, their way out of it. But now they're actually backing down, albeit still trying to lie and gaslight by saying they're only wrong for people misinterpreting them. Their meanings and intentions were extremely clear, they just thought they could get away with it; Nepenthe's locking post was clearly a threat, for example, but now she's pretending otherwise even though anyone with a memory knows exactly what she was talking about.

Again, it's ResetEra, so no sympathy for any person involved. But it's a nice little bonfire of almost every type of moderation failure you could imagine, all with receipts. And again, a majority of the users won't care, because the leopards aren't eating their face.

It mirrors why all Authoritarian regimes eventually collapse, they shield themselves from the truth and when situations pile up that go against their established narrative nobody rises to occasion to deal with it for fear of being punished.

This is by no means abnormal in terms of just the complete disrespect we get on the site, but it was just heinous enough that staff felt that I should show it myself.

It doesn't matter that I'm an admin. This is a problem we legitimately deal with, and it does inhibit staff's ability to work smoothly. However, we are actually working. Please be patient.

The charges of Islamophobia are so great because majority of resetera have no problem jumping on any attack wagon against the cis white man`s patriarch of Christianity,

But when you start attacking Islam, which is about 90% more similar to Christianity than any of the new atheism that Restera preaches, suddenly you become a minority hating Nazi racist.
