"Virus that will kill you."

Risk stratification is such an important point and most people have no idea that the danger from this disease is extremely low for the vast majority. On top of that, if we contextualize the danger of Covid overall against something like automobile accidents, the overreactions to this virus are even more incomprehensible. Your lifetime risk of dying in a car crash as a passenger, driver, pedestrian, or cyclist, is going to be somewhere north of 1%, depending on what year you were born. Covid may wind up beating that 1% overall as people get older and their immune function declines, but for most of us for most of our lives, that threat of death from automobiles will be significantly higher, even today when automobile fatality rates are relatively low compared to historical averages. This raises the question of the proportionality of our response. That is the thing that is grossly out of whack and only begins to make sense when we view Covid-mania as the mass psychosis that it is.

COVID derangement works as an excellent substitute for Trump derangement. Even though whites are supposedly some of the most vaccinated, most compliant population in this aspect, non-vaxxers are being painted as a perfect stand-in hate target for TDS wackos. Seems like a great way to keep the half a billion people destroyed by trump-era propaganda seething insane and raging against the official enemies of the establishment.
I guess that won't work with black people which include some NBA stars who said their opinions about vaccine-chan.

Many people have been saying that covid well just become the common cold, imagine destroying entire economies, ruining childhoods and livelihoods, creating another divide in all ready divided society all for a cold. Imagine.

he said nobody is wearing a mask, not just him. i just asked and he lives in south belgium
Ask him who decided to drop the mask mandate. Was it local government? In the south they don't take those mandates very serious. The police is alot nicer too. They just had horrible floodings in the South this summer. Masking up is just not that inportant when you just lost everything....

Here's a LOLsob for you--lots of people want to quit/are quitting their jobs, but not because of the pass, oh no, it's just because of Covid y'all.
My state's unemployment agency sends out periodic e-mails to business owners. The latest one I saw discussed what happens if someone loses their job because of a vaccination requirement. The official TL;DR is that it will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. What I suspect will actually happen, though, is that anyone who resigns over a vaccine requirement will be denied unemployment and have to appeal for it whereas anyone that's fired/discharged/separated will potentially be eligible unless the employer can offer satisfactory grounds to the contrary. In short, I think it will depend on the mood of whoever reviews the claims with no sense of logical thought.

Had a thought last night, slept on it.

The unvaccinated are being demonized.
I've been trying to find the right word to convey this same idea to others. For those people who have a legitimate reason to not get vaccinated, medical or otherwise, demonizing them or threatening to cancel them from society won't change their decision and will likely result in them digging their heels in more than they already are. Human nature is such that people tend to hate being bullied into doing (or not doing) something, so demonizing people ends up more counterproductive than anything.

It wasn't all that long ago that someone who simply wanted to wait to be vaccinated until the long-term side effects were better know was seen as someone making a reasonable decision. Now, that same person is being treated like an outcast of society as companies and countries try to outdo each other in the race for 100% vaccination. *sigh*

I guess that won't work with black people which include some NBA stars who said their opinions about vaccine-chan.
On the way home today, the sports news reported that a number of professional basketball and hockey players have announced they aren't vaccinated and will sit out of a number of games with a corresponding loss of pay. It's funny to see how the political environment is such that the symbolic-only gesture of kneeling is a "stunning and brave" decision by the minority doing it whereas those opting not to be vaccinated are quickly labeled "not good team members" by the same people previously championing individual expression.

In other news, GM isn't requiring vaccines at present but expects its salaried workers to "confidentially" disclose their vaccination status under the threat of safety violation letters and the loss of performance bonuses. If I understood what GM's Mark Reuss said in the article, he seems aware of Biden's mandate but doesn't want to act on it until more is known about the actual requirements, enforcement mechanism, penalties, etc.
