The premise of vaccination, we were all told at one point, was that it would enable the resumption of normal life. Soon the students who populate those institutions will be running corporations, nonprofits, the media, and getting elected to office. That’s why all of this has major societal consequences, beyond the specific situation of this or that college. Are we going to submit to the blinkered mentality of “Permanent Emergency” in dealing with what is now most assuredly an endemic disease? Or is it time to say, “enough is enough”?

Gone to the range maybe, but even in the very heart of Appalachia, most people have never hunted, even if you exclude women, and a huge portion of folks bow hunt only. The lack of overlap between hunters and non hunting gun owners is how we ended up with the term 'fudd' in the first place. A lot of hunters don't care so much about the second amendment, are happy to bend over and let parks and wildlife inspectors waste twenty minutes of their time on inspection, etc. My guess is most mass shooters have never hunted.

It worries me that people, who are aware that a virus is largely spread through particles expelled via symptoms such as coughing and sneezing, can read these 2 statements and go: "Yeah that makes sense", even though this is a forum that promotes a healthy dose of skepticism. Unless you literally meant "it does not lower transmission to absolute zero percent" in which case - no shit. No flu vaccine ever has, average reduction is around 88% for previous flu vaccines iirc.

The problem with this is a couple things. I thought we knew that the virus spreads asymptomatically. That's why healthy people are, in theory, wearing masks. Right? I understand that coughs/sneezes are more effective because of velocity, but that's where this gets problem.

In fact, this is where it gets interesting in my opinion. I currently hold the idea that vaccines increase spread. The reason I believe that is that a normal sick person in the above scenario who is coughing and hacking everywhere will theoretically be on the couch at home, instead of spreading. If the vaccinated can spread asymptomatically, which it appears they can, instead of hanging out at home they are out and about with everyone else, giving them the virus. In the lab, it may indicate that this vaccine reduces transmission. However, once this asymptomatic person is out in society, they are constantly spreading it.
