Hypothetical Chad Cocksworth III didn't get to be third of his name by being middle management, bro. Do you really want to live your life in a "low-risk organization"? Why?

Pensions are for fags who can't figure out how to execute a mega backdoor Roth IRA. I'm only half joking, but obviously, international banks offer really solid 401k matching programs too.

So don't work at a hedge fund then; work in VC, or at a REIT, or in private equity. Like tech startups, when a hedge fund fails you just move on to the next one, with a fuckton more stuff on your CV. You think when Lehman failed everyone else saw their name on people's resumes and were like "nah, you worked for that bank that failed..."? No, of course not, they said "great, you have 25 years experience in capital markets, welcome aboard".

Meme-tier nonsense about the world of high finance aside, I really do recommend people skip the engineering degree or biology degree or whatever and get a business, economics or commerce degree instead. It has the same amount of math with much higher salaries at the end of it. It has higher education that is actually worth something (god knows your mom is impressed by your PhD in Neurochemistry, but the market won't be). If you really think about it, science is mostly charity or taxpayer funded, with a tiny slice of STEM graduates being required for Industry (and most of them are engineers). That revenue base can only support so many scientists and even if you become a nurse or something, that's where your career path ends. The business world can support infinite numbers of smart graduates, because there's always more companies and there's always more money to be made out there. Your ability to discover proteins and shit is only economically useful at a very small number of places. Your ability to put together a competent go-to-market strategy for someone's new product is valuable virtually everywhere. Throw some tech skills or some rudimentary coding knowledge in there and you can work for any number of SaaS or B2B software companies, because they need always need people to help bridge the gap between the Strategy & Product guys and the subhumanly autistic computer engineers.
Do you have a source for this? Both Petroleum and EECS have been known to be the highest paying bachelor’s degrees for a while now. Is my info out of date?

You sound like someone who doesn’t actually know anything about the industry. If you were ever actually in a STEM field, I’m guessing you were a low-level grunt and never broke out into a role where you’re actually making critical decisions. Many executives at those certain large-cap tech companies that are killing their earnings quarter after quarter have tech backgrounds, you know that, right?

There is nothing wrong with a hard day's work, but believe me when I tell you that there is also nothing noble in working your ass off just to end up middle class. If you can make it in a corporate job, you should--you will eat shit for most of your 20s and survive off fast food, and then you will get your big break and make more money than you know what to do with, so long as you are smart, ambitious and competent.
I've always found this attitude so perplexing. Yeah, sure, live a shitty life and compromise your dignity to some faggot in an office so that maybe one day YOU.can be the faggot in the office. That's a great way to spend your brief spell on Earth.

If you can't make it on your own, find either a job that's interesting and worthwhile, or one that doesn't bother you and leaves you time and energy to devote to better things. Getting a shit job that forces you to live in a city and sit around in an office selling another man's widgets is humiliating.

Sorry, not sorry.

GG, man! I stopped by the gas station from my first crop of photos and bought their last 4 yellow Gatorades today. Their drink cases are now almost entirely empty, but I didn't have time to grab photos. I'm going to try next time. You've inspired me (and hopefully others).

Also, for the Zoomers who will inevitably join us, remember, be like Raze; censor your info and make sure you aren't reflected in the glass cooler doors if you take pics. Use good opsec. Don't be a Kurt Eichenwald.

News roundup is inbound. I'm archiving and will edit this post shortly with additions. I just had to drop the Hellraiser Walmart greeter meme because the whole idea legit brightened my day.

News Roundup

Baby formula shortages in Africa, but that's NBD, right? I mean it's not like they're also having them in...
O snap. Britbongistan facing baby formula shortages as well.

Please, fellow Kiwis, if you know anyone who is expecting a baby, for the love of all things good, tell them to stash a bit of formula and buy their breast pumps now if they don't already have one. A lot of first time moms can't make enough milk to keep up with their infant, so just having the breast pump doesn't mean you're in the clear. Stash some formula and remember there's a raw materials shortage. Breast pumps are usually made with medical grade silicone (that thing there's a shortage of) and plastic (also a shortage). You can live off canned food-- your infant can't.

Diaper prices are rising and shortages are expected.
Shortages have already hit Arkansas.

You can cut up old clothing, rags, etc to make re-usable diapers, so this is less important. Interesting in that it's a reversal of WW II cotton shortages pushing people to use disposable diapers. (Not archiving this. It's just an interesting factoid.)

For the adults
Someone said to wake them up when there are beer shortages
More beer shortages, reduced deliveries
Largely due to--
Aluminum can shortages
Glass bottle shortages
And, of course, the plastic shortage
Looks like I need to get a fresh keg for the kegerator. This might last a while.

Good luck stocking up on anything schedule 2. The rules are pretty strict.

This is basically the only thing I'm worried about. My family are pure English peasant stock that can endure just about anything. The power can go out and we can live off the land if need be. However, the biggest issue we face is prescription medication. Leviothyroxine/Eltroxin is the main one. Several of my elderly relatives are totally dependent on it; they have zero natural thyroid production and will die a slow, extremely unpleasant death if they run out. Eltroxin is not an OtC medicine, but I have seen it in one or two places commercially. But there are a thousand and one pill scam sites out there right now, so I'm very reluctant to try actually getting anything from anywhere that doesn't come with a prior recommendation. Anyone here potentially have advice for an EU/European resident? I've tried talking to doctors about this and their response is always 'lol fuck off pleb the system[TM] will never fail, your relatives should be grateful we even let you have a month's worth at a time you fucking entitled piece of shit wanting medical freedom xD'.

I need to preface this with I am not a Doctor, I am especially not YOUR or anyone else's doctor and this is just my personal actions and observations:

You need to find a private doctor who will write a prescription for you, explain your families concerns and also something about fears of availability (bonus points if you can prove prior issues) and they would issue you a script, I have a family member in a not dissimilar situation and was able to talk to my GP who I've known since I was a kid and is still my doctor and she was able to do this but you might have to find someone in Private practice.

The only other option if things do go south with supply is eking out what you can to the MED (Minimum Effective Dose) and not letting them engage in any activity that would exacerbate the issue i.e. Heart problems they are not allowed to walk far, engage in strenuous activity, inhale smoke (or damp air). You can look up the prescribing guidelines and dosage requirements for most medications I would do this and run the calculations now and keep a few printed copys, I Would also get a list of medications that it can be substituted with and in extreme cases look into the pharmacological history of where they sourced the active ingredients from.

I would also advise keeping a hard printed copy of relevant medical texts that go beyond First aid, NATO War Surgury is particularly useful as it was written as a guide to be used in the case of Global Nuclear War where everything has gone to shit you can find reprints online and the PDF is freely available, Also Ditch Medicine https://www.amazon.com/Ditch-Medicine-Advanced-Procedures-Emergencies/dp/1581603908 is a good book to have it was written by a former Special Forces Doctor who worked mostly with Trauma but it covers a lot of topics well enough.

Super drug do an online Dr where you can buy prescription medicine online. No idea how they get away with it, they do. You fill in an online form, it's 'checked by a 'dr' then it turns up at your house.

I get medication for ailments that you would normally have to see a Dr for.

It goes off your medical records, prescription history with them etc, During lockdown I wasn't able to get into the doctor but I have a issue that keeps comming back that can be treated with draining it (I.E cutting it open of jabbing a needle into it) or Anti Biotics and prefitably a mix of both and I tried using them and it was a no go but my local super drug is awful and have challeneged people for perscription medicines before and have been investigated by the CQC before, I was able to get some Amoxocillin from one place I used before but again they knew me and I knew them (I also drink with the named Pharmacist on the regular) and had had it perscribed before and they where my normal pharmacy and this was early in lockdown 1 where there was some leeway given about prior prescriptions and the condition is reoccurring and provable (pain meds where still a no go).

That time around I got my Anti-Biotics, and Cut it open myself seriously looking at yourself in a mirror trying to cut into a lump the size of a egg on the base of your spine when you can't stand up straight while trying to use a Stanley knife you've put a really serious edge on is a underrated kind of hell but the release was immediate like going from a 90 year old man to the normal position was great and jumping in a hot shower cleaning it up slapping a absorbent dressing on it taking some anti-biotics and crawling into bed for a few days was well heaven.

So what's this Natural Capacity I mentioned? When we are forced back into a more simpler existence by lack of resources the maximum number of Human beings living a close to modern lifestyle say circa 1900 America or England is about 2 Billion thats a 75% reduction in the number of people alive, look around you and imagine that 75% of the people just disappear, and that is if the world is able to work and produce at maximum output for decades, A realistic improbability. The real number is 1.254 to 1.5b and even thats being a bit generous.
Bullshit! I don't have to look around me, North America has some of the best soil quality in the whole world! It's those idiot fucks who decided to fill Africa (where all the topsoil has been stripped by intensive retarded farming) and India (especially Pakistan - same biz, if you take away the Indus it's a lifeless desert) who are going to get shafted. And they're going to find a way to you as surely as a bunch of Haitians could cross the Caribbean and walk the entire length of Mexico without being accosted.

That would explain why I haven't seen Sunkist Lemonade anywhere for... 6 months now?
Bill-Withers-Aint-No-Sunshine-I-Know-Singing.gif
Ain't no Sunkist anymore
Now its gone from aisle 4
Anytime I go to buy-y-y-y-y

Sure. That's for Canada, which is basically a petrostate at this point. Here's a source for the US.

There's a lot of data on what the highest paying jobs that require a college degree are, but not a ton on what the actual income of those who obtain those degrees are. A good example of the distinction might be something like Julliard, a famous theatre school--some graduates may make a fuckton because they get picked up by Hollywood, but the majority will languish in obscurity.

Plenty of lists have petroleum engineer at the top, but those are salaries for jobs, not incomes for majors. I'm sure we could go back and forth on this, so I won't be too contentious about "what's better"; petroleum engineers make a lot of money. They also work in weird places with high costs of living. They're also subject to shifts in oil prices:
"We all had the same expectation — we'll all truck through it and then we're going to get the big payoff," Walt Baker, who graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a degree in petroleum engineering, told the Journal. "Then the downturn happened."
I'm really thinking about the top end here. Engineers are always going to be individual contributors, which limits your value to your individual contribution. Management tends to top out higher, with some exceptions like pro sports or certain doctors. Salaries 5 years after graduating with an MBA from a top 10 school are, of course, ludicrous, which I don't think is an unachievable goal for smart people with a knack for numbers. Like I said, I'm not going to fight you on it, but over a 35 year career, I'd say there's more diversity in a business-y path.

In one ear and out the other, apparently. If you really want to start your own business, you should probably have some experience in business. Working your ass off in your 20s is basically a rite of passage, and people do it so they can enjoy the rest of their life without having to worry about money when they have a mortgage and 3 kids.

Framing instant gratification as a virtue is why the country is drowning in consumer debt and a sign of irredeemable faggotry.

Today's walmart trip in summary, meat seems to have gotten a reload to about 90% capacity, the water aisle isn't totally wiped, gatorade has gone fucking extinct, the coke vendor's not even stocking the register coolers while pepsi is doing victory laps, there's 16oz chocolate milk bottles for the first time in a month while the whole milks are lower than usual (evidence of the watering down theory?) and the yogurt cooler and bread aisle both look like someone baited creepers in minecraft. Even north IL gets hit sometimes.

Framing instant gratification as a virtue is why the country is drowning in consumer debt and a sign of irredeemable faggotry.
Framing self-reliance and indepence as "instant gratification," and the pursuit of wealth by any means as the highest goal, is faggotry.

"Daddy, why are you gone so much?"
"Daddy has to lick boss's asshole so maybe one day he can buy a lexus."

Contemptible.

Word on the street is that truckers are gonna strike in Ohio.

Hold on to your hats, folks...
Libs are suddenly gonna decide they don't like strikes. But remember, they're the Working Class™️.

Absolutely.

This guy is rallying the truckers:

Check out his videos, if what he says goes, then practically all truckers in the US are gonna strike.

A REAL AMERICAN.

These folks aren’t the Teamsters, (the same Teamsters who gave Biden his start in politics when The Irishman threw local Union support behind Biden to give him his first election win). The big Unions aren’t going to throw in with this. I can’t even find a website for the “American Council on Trucking”. This is just more boomer “Patriot” LARPers making fools of themselves in front of the cameras, giving The Man exactly what He wants from them. People should know when they’re conquered.

Time will tell. 'muricans will finally know what "Operation Escargot" means.

The Hamilton County prosecutor says he would arrest and jail any truckers who participated in a shutdown.

Now why is it that BLM protesters could shut down highways in summer 2020 without fear of arrest? hmmm.
