In 2020 Trump won West Virginia with nearly 70% of the popular vote, Manchin would have to be in worse mental shape than Biden to not know which way the wind in blowing in his home state. I think that's why he even mentioned "making America great again" in his recent letter rebuking the infrastructure bill, to try to signal to his constituents that he understands their concerns.

I agree but most people were priced out of the traditional family. Its hard to find an apartment without roommates; try sustaining a nuclear family on a single income. They assume people will want to work instead of one parent going home, plus the optics of telling women to stop working and go home to focus on family.

definitely the way to fix that is by creating a super expensive government program

also it's really smart to tell people "you can go to work, we will take care of your kids!" when you just shut the schools down for a year. these are definitely people we should trust with our kids.

Even then, every study I've seen shows benefits when measured at the third grade level. After that, especially at adulthood, the benefit seems to completely wash out.
