Remember when some Australian trucker was saying that they were totally gonna have a national strike and shut the country down and everyone was freaking out about it? And then nothing happened? Truckers talk a lot of shit but don’t back it up, is what I’ve seen.
the trucking network is falling apart on its own. i work in a small business that recieves 6-10 long-distance deliveries per week. the last month, roughly a third have been one or two days late, some just kind of drop off the radar and turn up a week later. shipping companies are short on trucks and drivers. one driver i spoke to said a lot of guys in his company are against the vaccine (which will be mandatory for interstate jobs), but he's just having trouble booking his jab at a time that fits his schedule and allows for potential recovery days afterwards.

at the moment the delays are just enough to fuck up our schedule a bit, and nobody actually needs what we sell, but if all these drivers have to be vaccinated by december 15, and half of them need 2 days off due to side effects, we're going to start losing significant sales.

Modern Chevys are alright, still have shitty brakelines, but their recession era cars a notorious for their shitty engines that blew up before 100k. One famous engine is the 3.5l i5 is the colorados that blew the head off at 90k, or the northstar (i think) engines in the impala that would explode at the timing chain. They also had that whole dexkill coolant fiasco thrat kind of shattered a lot of people's opinions on them
The impalas had the 3.6L LTZ V6 that chewed up timing chains just out of warranty with shocking regularity. That engine is STILL used in impalas and colorados. Whether chevy ever fixed the issue is still up in the air as there was no official TSB.

The northwood was a V8 used in cadillacs that was A) FWD and B) an aluminum block with leaky cylinder heads that warped and failed under 100k.

Not directly related to the global supply chain crisis thread but when the liberal media decided to talk about it,....
Authored by Michael Snyder via TheMostImportantNews.com,

If CNN starts sounding like The Economic Collapse Blog, what does that mean? Unfortunately, the truth about what is in our immediate future is becoming apparent to everyone. Global supply chains are in a state of complete and utter chaos, and this is driving up prices and causing widespread shortages all over the country. Over the past couple of weeks, I have written five articles with either “shortage” or “shortages” in the title, and some have accused me of being a little alarmist. If that is the case, then CNN is being alarmist too, because one of their top stories today openly warned of a “global transport system collapse”

In an open letter Wednesday to heads of state attending the United Nations General Assembly, the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and other industry groups warned of a “global transport system collapse” if governments do not restore freedom of movement to transport workers and give them priority to receive vaccines recognized by the World Health Organization.
For decades, we have all been able to take our extremely complex supply chains for granted. Things have always been where they need to be when they needed to be there, and many of us just assumed that it would always be that way.

But now organizations that represent 65 million transport workers around the globe are openly warning that “global supply chains are beginning to buckle”

“Global supply chains are beginning to buckle as two years’ worth of strain on transport workers take their toll,” the groups wrote. The letter has also been signed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF). Together they represent 65 million transport workers globally.
“All transport sectors are also seeing a shortage of workers, and expect more to leave as a result of the poor treatment millions have faced during the pandemic, putting the supply chain under greater threat,” it added.
Things are particularly bad at our ports. Right now, there is a backlog of approximately 500,000 shipping containers waiting on ships off the west coast waiting to be unloaded…

As an estimated 500,000 containers are sitting on cargo ships off the Southern California coast, many are wondering how to handle the backlog.
Needless to say, we have never seen anything like this before.

But what most Americans don’t realize is that the backlog off the coast of China is even worse

As a trucker, I really can't disagree with this.

And the pajeets are even dumber than the rednecks and niggos.
I feel like you don't see too many negroid truck drivers; are they too stupid for even trucking?

Also, I dunno if reporting nothing out of the ordinary counts for this thread, but Canada seems to have grocery shelves stocked. The only thing I can't get are the bulk packs of Lifesavers Wint-O-Green mints, but supply of those has been spotty since last year.

I see black truckers every day. They're quite common, and I still assert that pajeets are far dumber.

Put it this way: the black lady will hit you while backing.

The Indian man will hit you while backing, decide to pull forward and back up again harder because some mysterious force is restraining him (your truck,) and when that doesn't work he and his boyfriend get out and scream at you.

Yeah, Im a little spotty on my chevy engines. Most of their new engines seem to be pretty reliable and trustworthy now. In all honesty if I ever have to buy a new truck it would more than likely be a chevy. I absolutely hate Ford's incessant desire to over complicate simple things, and they're nowhere near being above chevy when it comes to engines. The 5.4 tritons are an absolute embarrassment when it comes to how many issues they have. I can't really comment on RAM trucks as I don't have any experience dealing with them, but they supposedly were plastic piles of junk for the longest time according to the internet. From the forums it sounds like their biggest modern issues are electrical gremlins like those ram boxes popping open, which I find kind of funny.

Was at a bar last night, and the waitress said they were out of mozzarella sticks.

The tendies are next to go, mark my words :cryblood:
If the tendies go millions of autists will rise up. The beta uprising is among us.
lol, making tendies at home isn't that hard. Mozza sticks are a good deal more tricky, since if the breading gives out while you're frying it the shit goes everywhere. Then again, I'm from yee-haw country; we'll fry anything that lands in the pan or stands still long enough, as I've been learning over at my brother's place the last few months.
I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult for some megalomaniacal Big Tex to amass a plantation of betas with enough supplies, but I wouldn't want to deal with the logistics of having that much concentrated faggotry nearby.

What the supply chain snarl looks like from space (just 'cause it's cool)

I am going to bundle all the news updates for Sept into a dropdown, and honestly, the shortages are basically 'everything', so IDK if there's any point in a list.

Does anyone have feelings about a new poll for after the current one closes out?

I kind of want to see what the consensus is on 'items you'd miss most if you ran out' and 'what country will get buttfucked hardest', but if anyone has any opinions on the matter, now's the time to submit them!

Do you mean the Northstar V8? I believe it was notorious for blowing gaskets because of the small diameter and fine pitched head studs GM used. Those tiny studs couldn't take the pressure so they'd pull out over time. Apparently if you tap a bigger hole for stronger studs, you solve most of the problems with the Northstar.

bit of information i learned from a large dairy farmer in my area a couple of days ago, lots of dairy farmers around here are having an issue with feed, and it's not just covid and shipping that's causing the issue. dairy farmers around here normally grow their own alfalfa for their cows, but because alfalfa has been in such high demand they are instead just selling it to offset the high cost of feeds that they need. the San Joaquin valley use to grow a shit ton of alfalfa, but that's changed over the last couple of years to be almost exclusively almonds. in my area alone half of the farmland is dedicated to almond orchards, and now that shipping has become even more difficult, shipping almonds out and shipping alfalfa in has become impossible. other food rations they use, like cotton seed, rolled corn, and hay has nearly doubled in price per ton due to the shipping issues.

this is just a side note but it's just funny to me that one of the most water challenged states decided that almonds, one of the most water intensive crops, was a good idea to grow lmao

I think the truckers are sensing blood in the water and for now are happy to just pick up the dole for slacking off. Either that or they got some new job off the books on the hobble and are coining it in.

Job is shit. Pays ok, but it gets boring after a while. It's not the disrespect. It's the crap wages. Just pay a bit more! But when you can't get a crap for miles and have to piss in to another bottle. Fuck it.

Anyway, fuck 'em, they need to get back on the job. Today is the first day I had no beer in 10 fucking years! Das Rite! 10 years homey.

Some shit is going down.

Every day for 10 years I go in to this store.

Every day for 10 years I get my choice.

Until one day I don't.

That was this day.

I picked up the shitty beers they had left on the shelf. Didn't have much choice.

Good job I don't rely on beer.

I wonder what tomorrow will be like.

Hopefully they have bread.

Fuck, what's it gonna be like in 6 months?

Went to Wally World today and I didn't notice any major problems BUT any of the bacon brands that are less than $6 were completely gone. This includes the Wally World brand.
That could just be the POS system being as Autistic as Chris Chan getting into an Argument with Movie Bob over what Cutie Mark a Mario Pony would have.

I've Legitimately have had items in the inventory that were registering as negative amounts, gotten a salaried manager to fix it and checked a day later and had it go back to negative despite it being impossible for us to have sold one...SINCE IT WAS OUT OF STOCK and since it was a type of chilled eggs I know there weren't any hidden somewhere because THEY ARE EGGS AND IF SOMEONE FINDS THEM IN HARDWARE THEY AREN'T GOING TO FUCKING BUY THEM.

And since nobody at store level can do manual orders if the counts system is fucked then god help you trying to get something in.
