I would take anything Justin says with a grain of salt. Dude has been known to either straight up lie, or make things sound better then they actually are.
I'd be inclined to agree with you, but how does this make anyone look better by obviously stating the plagiarism falls with James? If he was throwing some lesser lackey under the bus I could see, but James? I dunno.

This is also true. My hypothesis is either:

1. James is shit with technology and mixed shit up.
2. One of the slobs wrote the script and plagiarized a review.

Both are too believable to me based on the track record of James being terrible with modern tech and the slobs using James as a springboard for their own careers.
Honestly, I feel the truth is somehow a retarded mix of both. Leaning slightly more on James being a idiot, but if the other one turns out to be true then I'm not shocked.

Yeah I could probably see it as James handing over notes to the slobs, and the slob who wrote the script just plagiarized it out of laziness.

I'm not saying he is totally lying, but in the past he has been known to. So I just have problems with believing anything he says. Justin has shown that the only person he looks out for, or seems to look out for is himself. I can see him throwing James under the bus with this kind of issue.

I could also be overly paranoid of him, and am letting that take over. Who knows. Whatever the case is I'm like 90% sure the full truth from all sides will come out.

Justin Silverman just confirmed that the script in question was produced by James. If this wasn't confirmation than I don't know what else is.

Nah, I smell bullshit here. Even if James was a turbo-retard when it comes to technology, Google Docs is not even that hard to navigate or format. Unless James wasn’t even bothering to label or name his files and notes to differentiate them, this was someone hoping no one would notice they swiped shit from an article they thought would be old enough to be obscure at this point.

All of you people are just haters, don't you know that James has no time to write a review because he has kids?! Do you want him to suffer?
Newt? Oh well clearly he had no time because of... uh... Because he was busy.

What a shitshow, and that excuse is total bullshit, I genuinely doubt that the review we got was a fucking draft for 10 years.

Crazy to see how quickly James went from being “one of the good ones” as far as YouTube personalities go to a full fledged cow. Crazy to see that Mike of all people was apparently the brains behind everything.
The issue with James is that he is an out of touch idiot when it comes to things and an old man in the body of someone way younger.

1. Jimmy really copypasted a wikipedia article for a school assignment, OR
2. MM writer did the above and threw Jimmy under the bus, OR
3. Same as 2. but Jimmy voluntarily took the bullet because he gives no fucks what people will think about him, OR
4. Same as 2. but Jimmy took the bullet only to minimize any financial/reputational damages.

Now which one it is...

The recent MM controversy is really depressing. Doing movie stuff was James' passion. Horror and shiet.
This year you can really see that he stopped giving any amount of fuck. MUH KIDZ, NIGGA.
What? Did you think he has time to watch 31 foreign movies and review them? Do you want him to suffer?

Now he’s on Twitter claiming that this was the fault of a “new person”, whom he totally didn’t make up to waive any actual blame on anyone involved.

Even if any of this was true, and I’m still betting it’s not, this excuse Justin is sticking to still smacks of incompetence and apathy toward what they’re doing. “This Monster Madness will be one of the best yet! Except we’re using a script that’s been laying around over a decade instead of writing up something fresh, someone was too lazy to properly organize it, and James didn’t give a fuck enough to have any input in the writing process and just read what he was handed.”

If anything, this is a bigger insult to the fans than just admitting they stole and hoped no one would notice, because at least there they could humble themselves by saying “hey look, we made a check our mouths couldn’t cash by promising something we couldn’t deliver and we cut corners trying to do it, we fucked up and you all were right to point it out and be angry about it.” Being transparent and honest is a way better look than implying nobody gave a fuck during the creative process.

Still no episode today. I guess all the 31 episodes were copy-pasted from some old random articles from the internet.

Never trust a lolcow. Some days ago they released a legitimately great video and everybody regained a little bit of respect for them, but yesterday they nuked all the goodwill they had just obtained. They'll never change.

May I just ask what business Monster Madness videos, let alone the entire Cinemassacre library, is doing on Odysee of all hosting sites? You'd think they'd be cancelled for putting videos on such a website that harbors evil nahtzees.

Speaking of which:

Can't say they didn't make an effort at apologizing, but why couldn't you just have done a spot check for plagiarism when the videos were being produce?

I'm willing to accept that over ten years, the "we wrote this" notes could get mixed up with the "here's an article we can use for reference" notes. I don't think you have to be fatally credulous or foolish to buy that. Sometimes I'll find documents or Internet posts that I wrote ten or more years ago and have absolutely no recollection as to the context they were written in. But if you already had a hard-on about hating these guys and it makes the stiffy even harder to imagine that these guys intentionally plagiarized their script and released the video to an Internet full of autists and dedicated haters and didn't think they'd ever get called out on it, go ahead. It goes against Occam's Razor for the rest of us, though.

tl;dr: lol calm down
