Why is his "local" bar in a totally different city wayass far from his actual house?
It's 11 miles and a half hour drive across the bay without traffic. Since he doesn't have a car, though, it's 40 minutes on BART and damn near 7 bucks to get there one way. And he mentioned taking a cab the other day, which is some peak WTF for someone who is allegedly "broke."
Powerlevel but my local bar is a 4 minute drive and a 12 minute walk. Easy stumble home after a few pints.

My guess? He either got kicked out of other bars or thought the rest were TOO UNSAFE AND TRASNPHOBIC. It takes a lot of work to find a bar that will tolerate your insane rambling and touchy demands.

I think it varies. The time which prompted people to speculate if he'd committed suicide was about four days, I think. Possibly a week at most. So we can expect him to be gone for a similar time, if not somewhat longer. As I find that the lack of interaction will drive him into something of a depressive mood that keeps him away for more than a week.

Edit: I'd make a snide comment about most of the Oakland bars likely being full of hipster fuckheads, but HIS local seems like a pretty hipster shithole to me. And it's too damn close to the Tenderloin for my preferences.

I just went looking for this, it's a great part of the Rioley saga. Unfortunately Kevin's thread is as fat as he is so it's hard to find relevant bits but there's a good post here.
