Believe it or not, this is not how this shit works. Have you heard about cons getting crashed by other events at a con hotel (or vice versa), same thing. Cons sign contracts that usually stipulate that they will sell X room nights and get access to Y function space. Often with addendums for catering and equipment. But the hotel is still a hotel and anyone else can still get a room assuming the con did not block out the whole thing. Hotels can also book multiple events at the same time at which point they try their best to fulfill the requests of both.

Since AWA would have no legal grounds to expel Vic (or whoever else) assuming they're not doing anything illegal or disruptive to the hotel's business, they can't do dick. Sure, you can complain to the hotel, but if both are paying customers they're just going to shrug and say "too bad". Depending on what both events are doing, several hotel employees might even laugh behind AWA's back if they're pissed off because anime conventions often are mainly a bunch of kids that don't give much extra money to the hotel, overstuff rooms, and sometimes cause significant property damage on top of other general disruptions.

AWA is big enough that most of the hotels would put up with it for the business, especially coming out of COVID, but they're not going to harass other paying customers simply because AWA staff don't like them.

This person fills some weird category where they're less coherent than MOST KV regulars (perhaps not most of KV in general, but I'm talking about the major names that are obsessive-compulsive on Twitter), but not as retarded as Spirit Junior (who is nominally ISWV, and proves the point that ISWV can have retards too).

I dunno who this is, but if they derail this thread any further, they should probably be threadbanned. I don't like advocating for that, and it has nothing to do with whether they're KV or ISWV. It would simply have to do with the fact their negatively affecting the IQ average around here, and being disruptive in general.

The first part is right. Chupp ruled that Vic didn't provide enough clear and specific evidence to make a prima facie case. We ignore the fact that, for example, defamation has several separate elements, and because of Chupp's shitty ruling we don't know which part he purportedly failed. It was just "no evidence, no lawsuit for you lol!"

The second part is false. "No foul play, just truth". The truth or falsity of the defendants' statements were never examined. Saying that Vic's case was dismissed because the allegations were true is putting words into Chupp's mouth.

But it's okay, BT wears a helmet to protect his point head. I don't expect much from him.

Please, appeals court, give a favorable ruling to Vic so I can watch BT melt down.

It's been just over a year since the appeal was taken under review by the Sudderth, Womach, and Wallach panel.

Chupp really shit the bed. They've been able to handle a number of other cases that were vastly more complicated in that time. This case had a lot of causes of action, but the prima facie standard was pretty easy to understand. Not understanding that, and not even trying, was sheer incompetence. The result is a completely tangled mess vastly more complicated than a case like this warranted.

The parties didn't exactly help by filing gigantic messes. While Lemoine and the Wick Phillips turds were the most obviously malicious in doing this and deliberately filing irrelevant, duplicative garbage, not a single party's filings (other than Marchi's) failed to be a mess.

That they did. All of kv/lawltwatter lost their shit when Vic merely suggested an idea and wanted to see if funko could do something like this. They started blasting him with more made up things and one of them harassed the company and got a response saying they weren't in talks with anyone to do something like this, which of course, gave them a huge hard on and used it as fuel to continue attacking Vic.
