This is definitely possible to fix but goes back to a post I did a while back, if we knew spec wise what the servers are now it would be a great deal of help. For all we know the JP server could be just running off YAGOO PC in his office while it would do a few people, as we have seen in the past soon as you go like plus 10 people it just fucking melts as it cant deal with that many connections. Now thinking about it now, I do lean towards it being the hardware side of things, as usually Japanese internet is pretty dam good in some areas and considering it's office based now, I "assume" it would be very good now because of all the steaming they do. Here's a rough average of their internet speeds:@Bingeamint Can't quote your comment. Regarding how the server seems to shit its bed everytime they have an big event (Sport fes, Summer fes), is it possible to fix that and allow the server to run butter smooth even with linked worlds and 30+ players running around all over the place at the same time?
What will be interesting to see is what server is technically able to handle more people, because we haven't seen mass people on the EN one yet only on JP. I'm sure we will get some sort of an answer soon. Feel free to read the sort of summary I did below.
This is by far by biggest worry when they join the JP and EN. Because there is a few ways they could go about it and is quite technical to do with a fair few plugins which are going to put extra strain on both servers. It either one of the 2 issues when it comes to Minecraft servers:
1. The hardware isn't stonk enough to be able to handle the amount of players rendering the world at once. It is possible it is this, AFAIK the EN server is hosted by Ame (I could be wrong but the rest it still valid) and could be running off domestic hardware (Your standard Gaming PC). What would be in an ideal world is an actual enterprise serer which has plenty of RAM slots as that what you need the most rather than CPU speed. 8GB of RAM in a LAN setting would be pretty good for 2-3 people maybe but considering this isn't LAN based and there could be now like 5+ people on the EN server alone, I would probably aim for somewhere between 30-50GB of RAM dedicated to it purely, might be overkill slightly but you rather over compensate. Also now SSD's are way more cheaper, having just SSD's instead of HDD, will make a BIG improvement, so that could another factor.
2. The internet connection for the server is shite. This is a massive factor because of people joining from all over the world, for a smooth minimum for the players they currently have you want the download to be at LEAST 30mbit up and maybe half of that for down. I think this is maybe the most likely factor as you also have to take in account the players internet speed as well.
Basically shit is quite technical, it don't help we know barely any info about the actually servers themselves. Quite a bit of it as well is actually setting up the server with the correct dedicated amounts and making plugins work as smooth as possible. Its quite easy to royally fuck it all up. (Used to host a MC server back in the day, made some good money though)
