months back, Charlie was making a big deal about how he got his fans to donate a collectively large sum to someone whose pet dog who needed expensive surgery, but the grand total was a drop in the bucket for even one month of pay outside of his now-revealed twitch earnings. i can't help but regard him much more harshly than before, and i never had a very high opinion of him either. people like him are all the same kind of anodyne, inauthentic grifters. they feel good about getting others to do things but never act themselves. he's had incredible wealth for who knows how long and what has he actually done with it? besides hosting a few surprise giveaways to small streamers on twitch who'll never actually amount to anything. not because they necessarily lack talent or gumption, but because these platforms are designed to make most of their users fail and keep them in the pits.
the bible has a passage about being wary of those who pray in public. i can't see crit1kal's flaunting of his own wealth as anything but a way to get others to look at him and go, "aw, look how generous he is!" when he's really just a sycophantic piece of shit who traded years of potential away to become a black hole of moral value and cultural relevance.
what people do with their own money is their concern. i believe that, and i'm not shitting on the concept; i'm not expecting everyone to be the mysterious benefactor who stepped in to donate a large sum of money to an indie team trying to make an MMO and basically save them all with no strings attached. but it's really hard to look favorably at someone with substantial reach and deep pockets when all they do is try to funnel more money into themselves or their interests while, inevitably, espousing some kind of pro-communist bullshit down the line. which Charlie has. he's a big proponent for endless covid lockdowns, sneers at people who argue against masks, and has plainly supported BLM.
take DSP for instance. the prince of e-begging next to King Jimmy Wales. he's made tons of money, more than at least 90% of people in the world. he's thrown it all away, he's an insufferable loser, he's never given a shit about what he had, and always complained about how he desperately needed others to give him more when, in reality, he was never in any danger and continues to not be in any danger.
so of course, people gave him more money. lunacy.
