I've seen the same thing with other autistic collections, especially vintage & classic cars. The collectors will be on death's doorstep with a rotting barn full of rare models and still not let anything go. So whenever I hear someone talking about conservation or preservation of their collection, all it really means is they're taking their hoard to the grave. As an aside, I fucking hate how these people operate, these "preservationist" assholes like him and Frank Cidafi. They swindle donations and rare game stuff from developers and collectors, only to squirrel it all away and call it preserved. This whole (fake) suicide event only goes to show that this shit is just nerdy bragging rights to these people, and they will absolutely take this shit to the grave if they're allowed to.
Here's a browsable list of the files.Somewhat unrelated to the faked suicide, but part of byuu's SNES hoarded preservation project mentioned in the OP was finally leaked, though it's just an incomplete sheet of US box scans at only about half the quality they were originally.
while these pictures have merit, literally anyone could have gotten this photos. Not sure why Near was so proud of this collection, however, as he wasn't the only one who collected SNES games. Here's a browsable list of the files.
Mildly interesting. I'm not really an SNES person so I'm not really sure which if any of these scans are particularly rare or interesting.
We put it on the featured contents and wait for the absolute shitshow on Twitter....hey this is kinda autistic to think about, and I just woke up but...
What if Hector Martin's actually Byuu?
One can't ever be too optimistic. We put it on the featured contents and wait for the absolute shitshow on Twitter.
Martin and Ginder both have photos out there in circulation and they are very different. Perhaps Martin is in charge of the Byuu identity, but then whoever's pictures he's using for Ginder is going to be very surprised when he discovers the photos from his Japanese vacation were printed in an edition of USA Today....hey this is kinda autistic to think about, and I just woke up but...

Wouldn't be the first time an internet weirdo made a fake identity with photos of an innocent bystander.Martin and Ginder both have photos out there in circulation and they are very different. What an idiot. Can't ruin a reputation of a site thats reputation is already shit in the normie spherethat @marcan42 is a joke
if his story was true he would just provide the phone number of the office he got a confirmation from, so that everyone can get a confirmation directly from the authorities
why does he hoard the phone number? why does he expect us to trust him blindly?
because it's a lie, period
byuu's agenda is so damn obvious, after failing to bribe kiwifarm owner into removing this thread, he pulled out this fake suicide stunt hoping it would damage the site reputation enough to get it shut down
but his plan has failed, all he has accomplished is get 4 shit bloggers to report his death without verifying the info with third party sources (the blogs clearly state that their only source is @marcan42 tweet)
ultimately he gave this thread more publicity than it could ever hope for, and now people who had never heard of this site before (including myself) know how batshit insane he is, no doubt byuu's reading this thread right now and going completely apeshit over it
Yes, we talked about this earlier, and had talked about it before Hector even proved he is an absolutely autistic idiot by posting it. None of those people he cites would EVER have been listed in these reports. One was a service member, one was diplomatic personnel, I forget the others. But every single one of them were people who would not show up in one of these reports.Speaking of, I might be late to this one but Hector Martin posted a thread back in September asking why we didn't go after some random Ukrainian embassy because an american had faked their death in Ukraine.
Very much so with old cars, motorbikes. They collect way beyond their capacity to conserve, or won't sell if their economic situation and / or mental capacity deteriorates. If the vehicle is at least stored well, there's nothing more than recommissioning it, but oftentimes the storage is terrible. It's just hoarding for hoardings sake, obviously also to boast of owning them. A good portion of collectors will trade in the things they collect to support their hobby, but many won't, cannot. Unless the rusting car is a Bugatti or similar, the collection just becomes rusty, near worthless junk.I've seen the same thing with other autistic collections, especially vintage & classic cars. The collectors will be on death's doorstep with a rotting barn full of rare models and still not let anything go. So whenever I hear someone talking about conservation or preservation of their collection, all it really means is they're taking their hoard to the grave.
No matter what kind of plan you have here they’re just going to hang up and block your number because it’s an entertainment magazine and they don‘t have to speak to you or owe you anything. Answering someone’s fact check digs into time that could be spent writing premature obituary pieces.![]()
USA today has a phone number there : 1-800-872-0001
Maybe someone in the US could call them, let them know there are doubts about this news, and ask them to disclose their sources regarding byuu's (fake) suicide. Please record the entire conversation. If they claim they got a confirmation from the authorities, ask them to provide the phone number of the office. Remember that we can't trust anyone's word blindly and that we need direct confirmation from the authorities.

Nintendo going after emulators is incredibly rare but it'd be absolutely hilarious if Nintendo DMCA'd higan only for Byuu to break his silence and complain about Nintendo DMCAing his emulator.
It's also worth noting that (like a lot of 8-bit computers) the NES itself used an unlicenced clone of the MOS 6502 with all the patented features omitted. The patents on the SNES hardware are long expired; I don't think they could even if they felt so inclined. That is why there are perfectly legal NES/SNES clone systems sold (of varying degrees of quality); the rub is when you have the roms, but they all have their own individual copyright holders, so if you use some abandonware dead company you could probably get away with it.
