Reminds me of a story from Jim Cornette about working at TNA. Their TV show was faltering with the ratings until they had one fluke segment where people fighting backstage scored a nice rating. The head of the company saw this and responded by deciding that every week they'd have a similar backstage fight. If it worked one week, why not the next? It didn't work.

In this metaphor Phil is the head of the company, and "I'M HAVING FUN!" are his backstage fights. He had a couple times where he got better support while enjoying himself, so he superstitiously recreates it and is dumbfounded when the tips don't follow.

Having a set schedule for games is a bad idea. He ends up playing games that people don't care about, and he won't switch to more popular games because they aren't on the schedule. If people want to see more of him playing a game, they end up having to wait a few extra days for it, if it's even replayed at all.

Really does hurt any sort of engagement when he leaves off on cliffhangers and makes people seem to think they have to come back in 3 more days to see the rest of whatever chapter is going on. Like you think you're the only one playing this game nigga?

I'm playing through Metroid Dread, it would absolutely eat him alive. The thing is that it's so well made, every mistake is on the player, Phil couldn't deal with that. He would be constantly lost and spend a whole stream on a single boss. It would make for some absolutely classic moments, which is why he won't play it, he's a complete pussy.

Same thing for Super Metroid. I've been playing it on keyboard and it's not optimal. All deaths are my fault and I don't deny that. I expect the same thing for Metroid Dread.

This might be a long term thing, but Phil could regularly go therapy and change his behavior. He wouldn't have to hide in his house most of the time, block most people from commenting on his streams and website, and stop acting like a toxic piece of shit. He is narcissistic, but therapy could fix that. He could actually take control of his life and stop acting like everybody is derailing his life when he is doing it himself.
