I wonder if the September 16th date is linked at all to his scheduled preliminary trial or if it's just the date he start derealizing after getting possibly raped in prison. Very mysterious

That's not how these things work. The letter has been published in public, the prosecution could subpeona Kengle which would allow them to include it as evidence. All of this depends on prosecutorial discretion.

Where this letter would be of relevance is for example sentencing. Chris is wholly unrepentant and and an early release would obviously only result in him reoffending.
Explicitly encouraging the reader to visit his victim is also not good.

Also, it's hilarious that Chris wants Biden to pardon him, obviously not aware that the president can only pardon federal crimes. And pardon for what? As far as I am aware, Chris hasn't been charged with anything so far.

Never said it was going for any defense or would be used to prove insanity. Quite the opposite if it were to be brought up in court, as it is fairly obvious he knows it is wrong in the eyes of any normal person.
