Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

For someone who had a multiple seizures a day. So bad that they just had to call EMT. Chelsea sure does remember a lot about before, during and after a seizure.

While her seizures are fake and her research was poor. As there is no mention of how bad these spells hurt. Think of it like your body is in a car accident (assuming she is talking about tonic clonic, any munchies wet dream.) This is important because she loves complaining so much about being in pain but never about post seizure pain.

They won't let me do sternal rubs or precordial thumps anymore. rip

So where I ended up at is loudly ordering 2mg lorazepam for the seizure fakers, and the nurses were in on it. It's amazing how fast seizures ended. It's my miracle cure, and oh what are you doin' floppin around in the exact position for venous access.

They did not get the lorazepam.
Why can't you do sternal rubs anymore? Why can't any of us have nice things?

Are you at least allowed to do the Soto saline test (cold normal saline dropped into the eye)?

You had me at "cold normal saline dropped into the eye," so I did some googling. Mario seems like he takes no prisoners. (source)

I had thought that one of the ways you knew someone was really in trouble was that they didn’t react to things that would get reactions from normal healthy people.

So much of Laura’s problem is the same as these other munchies: no one has explained normal to her (or she hasn’t listened or cared). Normal people get some assortment of headaches, backaches, stiff joints, forgetfulness, malaise, upset stomach, dizziness, fatigue, and a million other issues that just happen. And they get on with it because obsessing about your stiff neck won’t help.

Chelsea looks like Null’s retarded sister and I am here for it. She was reasonably good looking once upon a time too.
Well, you know what they say, if you can't beat them, turn into their ooperator.

That sounds like a really good idea,. So thanks to munchies for doing what they always do, hijack then misuse support mechanisms designed for actually ill people to the point no one takes them seriously.

That paramedic didnt go far enough. Should have jacked up the ambulance and rubbed her sternum with a spinning wheel.
Most current munchies stick to Facebook/Instagram/Tiktok/Youtube/whatever the next cool thing is. They want to be trendy AND chronically ill with invisible disabilities.

lol what a ghoul. Think of the money health systems would save if they were only treated with DBT. No doctor would ever say "cancer is better bc easier to treat". Cancer can easily grow resistant to treatment and the treatments lower your immune system so much you are at risk of serious infection.

If she wasn't so ignorant she would know there's physical tests they can do to figure out if the seizure is real or not. Of course she has to make it sound like vicious abuse. Based EMT, I'd buy her a drink. :drink:

Layperson here, are functional neurological disorders and conversion disorder real things or are they politely couched "bitch faking?"
Think functional neurological disorder is just her fancy way of stating neurological disorder. Conversion disorders are real but are rare such as hysterical blindness and shit. She is faking though and it is very easy to know if they are faking.

"Malingering" is faking.

"Conversion disorder" is when you have some sort of emotional or psychological issue that you experience physically, as a motor or hearing problem or as seizures or something. But it feels real to you. Not totally different from having a headache because you're very stressed, or nauseated because you're very nervous. It can be very dramatic, like people who honestly believe they can't walk or see. The treatment involves retraining your brain to stop thinking that it needs to react to stress (or another stimulus) by having a "seizure" (or whatever it is).

Doctors are more willing to diagnose conversion disorder than malingering though.

One practical example of a conversion disorder would be someone who has pseudo seizures (not epileptic including brain patterns and other physiological effects) when they get anxious or overwhelmed, but in this particular example the person has extreme PTSD and they have an extreme physical reaction based on emotions or stress.
They definitely aren’t faking it knowingly, but the PTSD/anxiety makes it feel very real.

FND is the newer, more politically correct term for conversion disorder. She doesn't have a genuine neuro disorder, her MRIs are all normal. FND is psychosomatic, meaning it's literally "all in her head".
The fake voice she put on in those videos after a "seizure" where she acts like she can't talk reminds me of Uncle Gunnar from Bonanza.

Doesn't malingering specifically mean, not just faking it but faking it for some kind of material gain like drugs or money?
So, what adult responsibilities is this Chelsea girl trying to avoid? Didn’t want to get a job after college? Afraid of living alone?
Being a shitty actress who can't make a real career out of it and not pretty enough so she stopped trying with her looks entirely.

If they then try to use feigned illness to avoid criminal responsibility, a psychiatrist would need to decide which of the above three catagories they fit intoNot in the context of this conversation, but here is an interesting paper.

I doubt the conversation so fucking much. Especially in the era of surreptitious recording. If a health provider of any kind used that language and it went viral, there would be so fucking many lawsuits. I believe health workers have it drilled into them to keep the nice polite mask on at all times. The sternum treatment, I believe. But not the fucking conversation. Total fucking invention designed to get the best ROI on the fundraising

Litmus test for munchie: if they’re given this diagnosis, they will respond by taking great offense after which they take their ball and go doctor-shop somewhere else.

Any sane person with an ounce of humility should see a diagnosis like this and see it as a second chance.
