Superman dropping the "American Way" part was inevitable but it still leaves an incredibly sour taste. Even fucking Man of Steel made sure to point out that he's from Kansas and that he would not threaten America or stand against its interests. He's supposed to be a product of American culture and the values instilled by good old fashioned Mid-Western people. If he had landed in another place a la Red Son and the one where was raised in the Reich, he would have an entirely different moral compass and idea of what was right and wrong with the world. Those comics had a great point to make. The fact that religious groups are still common in China (and are growing - just look at house churches or the Falun Gong cult) despite China officially being an atheist state shows that isn't the case.

If Trump supporters were a "real threat", then the 6th January protests would have turned into an actual coup and Nancy Pelosi would have had her head on a pike by now. The fact that they aren't and the so-called "domestic terrorists" are really just a bunch of Q tards on the internet shows that they don't pose any threat to America.

The fact Moviebob believes that nations are becoming obsolete shows he doesn't understand what nations are. A nation is a group of people with a shared culture and heritage. A nation-state is a state which has a population that, by and large, belong to the same nation. If anything, a more connected world would increase the importance of nations because it would allow people to experience other people's cultures far easier than they could otherwise do - for instance, it's a lot easier for me to find out about Croatian or Occitan culture in a world with the internet than it was 50 years ago.

I liked it but I didn't understand why they called the squinting Irishman a Jap.

(OK, the trailer didn't call him a Jap; they saved it for use in the serial itself - repeatedly. I did actually watch this serial recently. Was OK for a serial, the sort of thing that holds your attention enough and you can casually make wisecracks and running gags at. Also, it was kind of neat to see where some of the iconic elements of the Batman mythos originally came from. The backdrop of the Japanese Internment was striking, especially with how even the narrator was praising it. So, perhaps ideal for someone who wants to MST3K something but has a bent for dark humor.)

What I'm trying to say is I'll probably watch Batman and Robin (the 1949 serial) before I watch the new movie.

An excellent point. I've roughly doubled my wage over the past 15 years. Of that 100% gain, the split is about 10% raises and 90% higher rate at a new job. And I've never bailed on a job just for more money, it's just one of the things I aimed for when I decide to change jobs; I'd imagine someone with it as higher priority would have an even more crooked split.

(Though with all the current stupidity I am strongly considering taking a pay cut if I can find an employer less retarded....) (EDIT: Did I just get word filtered? Because I sure as hell didn't call my employer exceptional. I guess I use that word so rarely I didn't realize it was blocked.)
