Agreed. Lots of GenX “fuck the establishment I can wear what I wanna wear” energy in there with a little blond boy in a dress and an old school gothette.

For me at least it was never about policing what people wear, it’s just clothing. It was about forcing people (mostly women) to bend reality to a whim and accept the unacceptable.

So many progressive beliefs have zero internal consistently, but its so contradictory and nonsensical that its impossible to know where to begin to challange. Of course that is intentional.

Two examples;

1. Troons are being driven to suicide as a result of the most inconsequential things like a Netflix show, the mere thought of someone using the wrong pronouns, or the existence of women who make up half the worlds population.

This is a sign of severe mental illness at the group, rather than individual, level. We know that people with severe mental illness often lack capacity to give informed consent and endorsing their delusions is a gross failure by society to care for those who are vulnerable.

So if they continue to hold this belief unchallenged, and cause distress to those around them, then no doctor (or society) should be colluding in their distorted beliefs by causing irreversible harm through operations we know dont work (and are expensive).

2. Troons frequently accuse people of plotting their demise. They characterise normal interactions as harrassment and bullying and claim that their harassers incite hatred towards them as a group.

Well ok, we have laws to deal with this and if they are going to make these accusations then they must either be forced to either;

a. Make a formal report to the police so this serious matter can be investigated. If they are lying in their report then we also have laws to deal with that. Or,

b. Withdraw their accusations publically or be prepared to defend a defamation action.

This is all very litigious and never the way to really solve this sort of thing, but we are allowing them freedoms to make the worst accusations, without evidence or challange, that no other group has.

Having said that, there is signs of an alternative option making progress. Treat them like children if they arent able to engage sensibly. In the UK its starting to feel like adults have entered the room and troons who screech 'no decision about us without us' find that we are talking over and around them.

When I worked on a crisis hotline down in Louisiana, we had different local charities/groups visit and do specialized trainings. Like we talked to the food bank about their resources, that sort of thing.

Then we had the LGBT group. Holy fuck, the lady there started off complaining that she was referred to as a woman in a Winn-Dixie by some 80 year old cashier.

Not that she was misgendered. The woman was a natal, non-trans, woman, who looked like any other woman and was offended that some pensioner didn't ask her what her pronouns were and had instead (correctly) assumed her gender.

She had an eating disorder, as many female athletes do when puberty changes their bodies. That doesn't mean her spirit is male.

It really sounds like the family was so reluctant to love an excellent dyke daughter that they traded her for a mediocre trans son. Now he makes a living posting soulless Instagram graphics about his identity because his achievements aren't special enough to speak for themselves. Tragic.

Incredibly poor understanding of biology - they've got an idea from speculative fiction that either the human body is plug and play ("there's literally no reason you couldn't put a uterus inside a trans woman") or that science is magic ("you can just use CRISPR to change all your cells from male to female"). This isn't helped by the rhetoric that biological sex isn't real, and that neovaginas are indistinguishable from the real thing and your body magically transforms the skin cells so it starts self lubricating (that's just dead moist skin sloughing off).
