Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

Canadian Twitch streamer Troydan really is going in on the sports consooming

EA must really not give a shit anymore if they put one of the worst teams, the Maple Leafs up as their cover image. Either that or they don't know practically all of Canada despises Toronto and everything associated with it, so they're really doing a detriment to themselves, but whatever. I have to give it to the guy to not change his shirt with every sports game he plays with some jersey or associated promotion. Because Sports stuff... yeesh.

jersey.png

I guess the one upside is if you treat them well, sports jerseys tend to last a long time. So maybe the cost is worth it in the end? But when you take into consideration how teams change their jerseys all the time, along with all the "limited edition" crap they put out, and how the newer generations don't value sports memorabilia that much... It makes it a little sad to think all that money wasted will probably be up for pennies on ebay after the person dies. Or just thrown out.

Maybe I'm wrong. But I don't feel like NHL/NFL/Basketball/Baseball has long-term value anymore. Football/Soccer, yeah, but that's because that's the most popular sport in the world. I don't think anyone in Europe gives much of a shit about NA sports.

Goddammit, of course there's Funko Pops.

Let's touch on Ryan's World.

ryans-toy-review.jpeg

Over a decade of peak consoomer culture and we're at heights of advertising directly to children never seen before. That's right folks. Remember when McDonald's was heavily scrutinized for their mid-90s to early-2000s heavy handed ad campaigns? Well, cut out the middle man, now the ads ARE the entertainment.

im-268166.jpg

Ryan's is channel sitting at 47.97 billion billion views, a Walmart, and a Parmount + deal you likely have had some exposure to this disease of a family if you have or are around children. Ryan and family found their fame reviewing toys and conducting the same handful of "science" experience ad nauseum. The content is lacking of substance or merit. The budget remains low despite ungodly success.

maxresdefault.jpg

Meet the parents/parasites that helm the exploitative ship. Shion Guan and Loan run their child fronted business without shame. They pump out content without rest while the money is still good. And it's not just Ryan. They need a backup plan for when their Ryan well runs dry. So as Ryan grows fat and ugly like his disgusting parents his sisters are already being exploited for content with their own channels/crossovers.

Now, the wealth. The Kaji family is fucking loaded. Worth between 33-150 million. But worry not. Shion Guan and Loan are spending the money as fast as they can make it.

With 3-5 homes, more luxury cars than you can count, and endless exotic vacations the money is going fast. The fame came quick and I can't imagine it will last long after Ryan hits puberty. Oh, the cherry on this consoomer sundae? Ryan's mother has an arrest for shoplifting.

I'm an adult so I have only heard of this kid before twice. Both by video recommendations and the news reporting the kid was a multimillionaire by reviewing toys. It's crazy how popular and successful someone can become reviewing a product. Like it makes me angry I'm barely able to rub two pennies together so I'm openly jealous, but I won't deny I didn't think of doing something similar where I could be popular enough that I'd get paid to play video games or review movies.

Today it's normal to see people who are nostalgic for commercials and advertisements found in magazines. When I was growing up it was what decade you grew up in. So if you're a baby boomer you'd be a fan of Elvis, while those in the 80's would be Kiss fans. The difference is parents were up in arms about junk being marketed to kids. As such McDonalds toys being seen as a means for fast food restaurants to sell junk food to kids. Don't forget about candy cigarettes preparing kids to smoke real cigarettes.

This is a bit beside the point, but I want to give a big shout-out to modern popular culture, which has become so balkanized that a person can have nearly 50 billion views on the second biggest site on the internet and I've never even heard of them before.

I suspect my ignorance of many things makes my life much better and I don't even realize it.

I'm middle class and worked hard to get where I am. I'm genuinely happy that my parents reduced my television time to two hours as a preteen. They of course fucked up when the internet came around lol If or when I have kids I refuse to let them sit all day on electronics during their development period. I think it's what lead to peak consumerism. Growing up like that seems to cause a lack of motivation as an adult that is too late to teach.

I of course don't eat candy nowadays, but I used to fucking love those liquorice-pipes as a kid. And my fucking country banned them for the exact reason mentioned. I despise tobacco smoke. How could this be? I should be injecting heroin into my veins now. According to the government.
So only way to get them, is importing them from a neighbouring country, so they were a bit special occasion candy

Hell I heard of him when the fucking guy that does the video game shit posted the Ryan's World game on fucking 4chan. Other than that, I'm betting that either he'll turn out fucked up or use his fame to fucking do vlogging shit.

That much fame and the pressure of supporting your family at such a young age, followed by his inevitable decline in popularity as soon as he starts his spotty teenager phase, is going to be fucking terrible for his personal development. Becoming a cringy has-been vlogger is one of the better outcomes.

As terrible as his parents seem to be, his saving grace will be that they're running whole show so he'll probably be safe from the child molesting producers that got their claws into so many other child stars. He might not spiral into drug addiction like most famous kids.

news reporting the kid was a multimillionaire by reviewing toys.
Sad part is, the kid isn't a multi millionaire. His parents are. They're milking every cent they can out of the kid and it'll run dry eventually. The parents no doubt don't have a single penny saved and they'll end up as washed up child stars drowning in debt from the million dollar houses and cars they own. gotta feel bad for the kids, they're for sure gonna end up with the classic child star syndrome and be drug addicted and shit.

The kid's gonna have a hell of a mental health experience once he finally realizes what the fucks been going on the last few years.

Meet the parents/parasites that helm the exploitative ship.

They have really punchable faces.

I can't imagine exploiting a kid to begin with. I get wanting to give your kids a better life than you had, and when they have an interest in something (non-degenerate) you want to nurture it. But just outright using them for views/promotions/money feels like something you should be flogged for.

I think most of use thought about doing something similar but the problems is that having success seems to be a random event. There are literally milione of channels devoted to product reviews, and the vast majority of them is either a failure or locally famous at best. Some of them have a lot potential and charisma but they still fail.

Modern internet culture isn’t only super balkanised, it’s also random: you’re in the hand of an algorithm and only luck can redirect your video toward the right person who will share it.

Let's get real, you don't know any of that. The only thing we know is that they're using the kid as a moneymaker, which isn't good. But there hasn't been anything shown here to suggest that they're financially illiterate retards blowing $150k per month on gucci gear and private jet jaunts.

Houses can be resold even if they lose value. In fact most people that get cash rich will transfer some of that money into real estate (on the whole this is even a good idea). There were like 3 houses posted, big fucking deal. None of them were exactly hollywood mansions either, one even looked like a dual use commercial. That Porsche is well under $100k brand new, and I didn't see any McLarens, in fact most of the cars around the buildings were pretty typical fare.

I'm not defending these people, first of all they're all ugly (their kids too), and second this whole "ryan world" commercial enterprise is bloated and disgusting. I hadn't heard of it previously and looking at the video stills and pictures repulses me. I would rather put my kid in solitary confinement with a bible than let them watch that shit. But that doesn't mean they're financial illiterates or that the kids won't have nice funds to see them into adulthood. What the star kid will definitely have is a difficult transition period into adulthood, but hopefully he'll handle it OK. Lots of people have difficult teenage years and some of them do it in unheated trailers eating cardboard rather than in abundant luxury.

Also that woman's shoplifting conviction is close to 20 years old, she was 19 at the time. Not really suggestive of anything on it's own.

Game Room consooming aside, this one actually seems pretty simple and straight to the point. This probably will be the only rare time where I must say that this is how game rooms are supposed to be treated.

I've never heard of her, but everything about her, the presentation, her collection, screams 'fake'. I am suspicious of every 'gamer girl' unless disproven (guilty until proven innocent ladies) because there have been so many that were either scams being run by their boyfriends (which is what this one looks like - I see she has an OnlyFans) or outright fakes made by glorified PR firms.

'Complete sets' like she says she has for the US N64 have always smacked of consoomerism to me - you're buying games that you don't care about/might even hate just for completeness-sake. Every game in my collection is something I actually like.

Because of this thread, and NoReturn specially, now YouTube thinks I am the kind of degenerate that enjoys tiktok compilations ...which I am, thanks guys.

Thread tax, as many here predicted t̴͔͎̻̋̚͘̕h̵͖̱̬̻̘̀̆͆̎̂͠è̵̢̺͌̃y̴͓̐͒ ̸̘͒̀͘͝h̵̋̀́̈́̌ͅa̵͉̺͕͚͔̩͌́͋͐͝v̵͙̜̦͉̎͠ͅē̴̗̱͗̊̂̚ ̸̬̹̋͌c̴̼̰̞̯̫̈́ō̴̼͊m̸̛͖̝̼͓̓̊͘̚ë̵̻́

And of course, with some of them store exclusive for the bugmen to get really competitive about.

There have been a few of these over the years, awhile back I thought about doing a thread on bogus 'NERD CHICKs' YT channels but at the time it wouldn't have produced enough content to justify a thread.

You can see how they hook the loser market in, A GIRL WHO GAYMES AND WILL FLASH HER TITS AT YOU (for $19.95). There were multiple other channels like this that seemed suspicious, a bit too polished looking 'nerd' girl awkwardly thumbing a SNES controller.
