i listened to Ellis’s new video about some Phantom of the Opera thing last night (as a woman i have gay interests and like to hear someone else talk about them on my commute) and was absolutely blindsided by the vocal appearance of da Tube, not having kept up to date on this thread as of late. Lindsay is an idiot but i can’t help but feel she’s reasonably media savvy having become as successful as she is- and because of this, i feel she must be contractually obligated to keep working with him like this. he’s narrating
both of her audiobooks? and he keeps getting 15 second clips in her YT videos. his voice is atrocious, no one wants to listen to that. surely Lindsay must recognize that having a successful audiobook is dependent on the speaker having a voice that is pleasant to listen to, and his acting is so fucking cringe.
say goodbye to your eardrums
also cultural identity and biological reality are not the same thing and therefore this argument that is shitting up the thread is based on a false equivalency. to be a geordie you have to grow up in the region, but presumably you can move there post-birth and still assimilate enough to fit into the culture. there is no DNA that makes you a geordie. to be a woman your body has to produce large gametes, which is something determined by DNA at the moment of your conception, and can never be changed. the end
Holy hell, what is he doing with his words there?
Up and down like a wave..you couldn't take any meaning in for how distractingly weird it sounded.
And the audiobook wont have the safety net of putting words up on screen.
As often with Tubes own recordings, the dynamics are all off, way too up and down and over loud.
He seems to have random, out of place adverts for Lindsay on his latest vids too.
Totally not bothering with doing something creative with the ad / with her appearing personally, to make them fit in or contribute; they really feel like contractual obligations.
I assume they are both represented by the same people..
But yeah, it feels forced and tacky.
When Lindsay rightly assumed it might be a bit insulting to ask / feel weird to perform male voices..then Tubes ridiculous "i'm exceptional" framing about how it could possibly be, that he can speak in a mans voice
Potentially too, she just didnt think of asking him, because she wanted some decent voice actors for her book.
But her agent saw Tube willing to do them all and snapped that up. Probably for the same fee, lmao.
I cant even begin to imagine what its going to be like hearing his falsetto, crap acting, brimming with self confidence, absolutely murder this audiobook ,lmao and mar the whole thing for Lindsay.
Didnt she say 'maybe you will be doing the second one too!'
Isnt it weird for that to be a maybe? Like you'd want the same voices for the same characters, if they were any good, wouldnt you?
Telling that its even up to question.
Interesting to hear that it was arranged over her head and she didnt know about it- might explain why they keep getting jammed in to work together. Her agent will have set this up, making assumptions for her, based on times past, then its locked into contract.
She will be counting down to when the obligation is over, as she's not a fool and will be able to see how now he's looking increasingly creepy and ready to pop in some way.
(RE yr end paragraph: correct- obviously.
that even one person found the concept a challenge is truly exceptional.)
