It only took one tweet by a ‘blue check’ to turn a tragic incident into a drama-filled Twitter thread filled with head-scratching conspiratorial nonsense.

Early Friday BizPac Review reported that actor Alec Baldwin shot and killed a cinematographer and injured a director with a prop gun accidentally loaded with a live round. However, Johannes Velterop, whose Twitter bio describes him as an “Internationalist,” “EU Citizen,” and “ex-UK resident” took tragedy to another level and suggested that Baldwin’s prop gun had been secretly loaded with real bullets by a Trump supporter as a means to punish the actor for his Donald Trump parodies on Saturday Night Live.

“Might the prop gun have been secretly loaded with real bullets by a Trump supporter, to punish Alec Baldwin for his Trump parodies? Should be a line of inquiry.”

When confronted for his take, he doubled down, claiming that only “MAGA-types” are dismissing the idea.

He was roundly mocked for his “conspiracy misinformation” on all sides.

Say you manufactured a 9mm blank and put it in a real 9mm firearm. The gun would of course ignite the first round when the trigger was pulled but it would fail to cycle because there's no bullet in the barrel. It's a textbook demonstration of Newton's 3rd law.

You need either a blank adapter, or a special barrel that's with some kind of obstruction to allow the gun to cycle.

Ok, let's hypothetically say someone managed to sneak on the set, load live rounds, and managed to get away without being noticed. How the hell would they have any guarantee that Baldwin would be the one shooting the gun, much less actually shooting it at someone? You'd have equal odds of the bullet just going wild and not even being noticed. This is either deliberate slander, or the dude really is that fucking deluded. Rent free indeed.
