What they said was that during the course of the convention they did NOT see Ripley even once. They do not believe Ripley was even there at any point, and that this may be some sort of attempt to make people look bad.

EDIT: To add, the person who has been sending info has been reliable thus far and I haven't had a single reason to question anything they say. I cannot say the same about Ripley.
