Community Lolitas - 1000% more backstabbing than you'd expect.

I can't think of a less appealing body pillow.

To be fair, the body pillow thing was a joke mocked up by people in the Lolita fandom and spread like wildfire, and Mr Yan said that he'd make a real one if enough people were interested. They also changed the "from Bodyline" thing on packages to "from Mr Yan". It's weird.

Lolitas are people who dress up in fetish costumes influenced by the pro-pedophile novel by Vladimir Nabokov. Like furries they wear their fetish costumes out in public completely shamelessly and tell anybody who'll listen "it's just a fashion/lifestyle it's not a fetish don't be gross" but this lie is made obvious by the sheer overwhelming amount of lolitas who will admit to daddy/daughter and ageplay fetishes.

They dress up like this in public and look ridiculous and you know they're getting off on it.

They are basically furries but for bitchy girls and into pedo stuff instead of animal stuff as far as I can tell.

Gross! Post more gross lolita fetishists.

Well, they don't seem to have anything else going for them in the appeal department. Is there actually a large fan base for this? It's surprising that not one model would be conventionally attractive.

The impression I got from browsing /cgl/ back in the day and reading the other Lolita thread here is that the Lolita fan base is large, it's just that almost all of the fans are... other Lolitas. At least in the West, it's like an ongoing competition between idle women with too much money, too much Internet and too much of an ego.

The entire subculture is plagued by vast dramas, catty rivalries and gossip.

don't we already have a thread for this? also don't forget about the "nymphets" on tumblr.

Pretty sure it got locked due to mass autism.

I just checked the original thread. It has a "diseased" rating and hasn't received any replies in a while, but it isn't locked.

Did they read the goddamn book? Lolita’s mom died in an auto accident, Humbert is implied to have raped her dozens of times and stated if she gave him a daughter he would do the same to the child as well, and Quilty wanted to sexually exploit her in his movies. She finally finds a guy who isn’t a dick to her and then she dies young in childbirth. She’s meant to be a victim of circumstance, not a sexual rebel. Fuck the climax is her running from her abuser. Eh, I blame Sue Lyon.

Also the book takes place in the ‘40s. She would dress as a 12 year would in that era, not as an anime girl. This looks to be more inspired by hentai than 20th century literature.

I think you could argue that each caste of lolita is a herd of cows in its own right.
Sweet: Clearly playing off the little girl vibe. No matter how much they try to deny it, nearly every print includes some form of baby or toddler item, candy or sweets, or generally childish design. They're also the ones you see with loads of junk on their hair/jewelry/nails and tend to wear more of the wild, cavity-sweet colored wigs.
(Sweet lolis also tend to be fatter, in my experience. There's just something about an obese girl smushed into a print covered in pancakes that's viscerally satisfying.)
Notable cows include
  • Chanel
  • Venus Angelic
  • Any lolita who actively admits to ageplay
  • That one fat chick who sewed two skirts together
Classic: aka "Lifestyle Lolitas" Usually older girls, often with more narcissistic or holier than thou outlooks. Dress more like your grandmother's porcelain dolls (though have an easier time passing as just girls who wear old lady clothes or period actresses.) Colors tend to be more neutral but often still include childish items like bears or rocking horses. Like to think of themselves as "mature" or above younger girls/those who dress Sweet. Often mold their lifestyle to reflect Victorian or Edwardian aesthetics. Drink loads of tea.
Notable cows include
  • Anyone attempting to sell limited edition prints for $800+ (may cross-contaminate with Sweet and EGL lolitas on certain prints)
  • Misako (late 20-something, 30-something lolita who has made a career out of dressing this way, not really a cow)
  • 35+ age women who are basically Miss Havisham
Elegant Gothic: Argue that they are the "original" or "old school" lolita. Dress almost exclusively in black, dark blue, oxblood, and white. Often look like someone's doily collection shagged a tea cozy. Pull inspiration heavily from Mana, a Japanese cross-dressing musician and designer. Overall a dying breed. "Lolita" dresses sold in Hot Topic or as Halloween costumes are trashier versions of this kind of lolita.
Notable cows include
  • All of them
There are tons of subcultures within lolita that just get more and more ridiculous the further you go (ie Pirate, Wa-Loli, Country, and the mess that is OTT Sweet or Decora.) This is a very deep, very frilly rabbit hole.
