RPGnet Forums

A typical day in the life of an RPGnet janny. When, you know, on the rare occasion that they don't ban someone. In fact, outside of the occasional post in whatever interests them, most of them are inactive... Unless they're all hiding in the political subforum.
I couldn't come with a parody of that mod redtext that can still be distinguished from the real thing.

Weren't original D&D orcs a LoTR ripoff in the sense they were, usually, a warrior race (better term would be species) bred en masse by various evil wizards as shock troops whos only purpose in life was war?

Well, nobody has been banned since Saturday and they already have around 20 people who are modding an relatively small forum.

It's only a matter of time before they ban someone out of boredom.

Edit: Threadbanned for insufficient excitement.
My god... those hot takes...

Show of hands: who here is in a wheelchair? Good. Now, have you ever felt it was necessary to be 'represented' in a game by playing someone in a wheelchair, especially a wheelchair system that was so unbalanced the designer should've been laughed out of the hobby?

Local community is when anarchist. The more anarchist, the more community.

Wait, he's talking about Vampire, not D&D, right? Does that mean two different games have introduced that stupid fucking mechanic?

No, people are just throwing wheelchairs into official art regardless of how much sense it makes.

The funny thing is that it makes more sense in the World of Darkness than other settings. A brilliant Toreador painter or author who was embraced despite being paraplegic? Or hell, A Mage? That completely fits in, in world.

To be fair in the 70's Marvels the Tomb of Dracula featured Quincy Harker, and his amazing combat wheelchair. But he was an infirm old man, and so kind of had an excuse.

"Represented" but not "imagine what it would be like to walk and run places."

Yeah I don't believe these people play RPGs at all. It would require too much imagination.

Sounds more like a Morotrophian than a Daeva, to me. As for Mages, you run into the 'trans in D&D' issue where you're a fucking wizard so just magic your legs to work. There is essentially no reason to be stuck in a wheelchair when you can re-order reality.

Yeah, I can image than when you're in a roleplay game, where you get to be all kinds of unrealistic things like elves and wizards totally divorced from your real life, as a form of escapist fantasy that you'd totally want to focus on your disability. I doubt such a person exists, and if they do I wouldn't want to play with them.

Word policing from Zeea.

Who also expects the users to maintain an encyclopedic knowledge of whoever's been convicted of whatever.

But I'll spare you a trip to Google to say that the author in question was an feminist who enabled her pedophile husband. But he was previously convicted for molesting children and since old habits die hard, he was arrested for having an interest in several kids and died in prison in '93.
I ... can't believe I'm about to do this but I'm actually going to defend Zeea, at least on the second one. A lot of people STILL don't know the sick shit MZB was up to with her hubby -- I have a suspicion that a lot of people want to sweep it under the rug for various reasons, ranging from being unindicted co-conspirators to not wanting the fantasy/sci-fi genre smeared any further.

Bitch should be pilloried the way Lovecraft gets treated, but they just shuffle her off to the cornfield.

Yeah, part of what makes the MZB so... infamous is that she was once a feminist hero and seen as a major literary figure. This isn't quite the case of some obscure incident, but more like Michael Jackson. Especially in that crew, a lot of people should know who MZB is.

AND the crime is actually horrible on top of the cover up. We're talking like the Catholic church here (not in scale but in how bad the cover up is). These are REAL crimes too, not like Lovecraft's cat naming. This should not be forgotten, and I for one support the efforts to stain MZB and the people who defended her for 7 generations. (Especially since the people that defended her were so often exactly like the RPGnet mods.)

The abuse MZB allowed her twisted husband Walter Breen to inflict on her own daughter and other children is the stuff of horror movies. Incidentally this is what happens when thanks to progressive stack bullshit you allow a certain elite of people to be completely immune for their heinous acts.

Also it's not like it was unknown Breen was an open NAMBLA member.
