Jesus fuck this physically hurts. Pit Bull types already have to deal with trashy owners and overpopulation; giving them features that make them somehow even unhealthier than pugs is just pure torture.

Also, can we talk about poodle mixes, AKA Doodle dogs? They've become trendy due to their curls and claims that they're hypoallergenic; they're actually worse for allergies than their Poodle ancestors. Additionally, most owners are the white female suburban types who have no business caring for a moss ball, let alone a high-maintenance breed. This results in severely matted, aggressive dogs that often have to be put down cause they end up biting someone hard. The original breeder of Labradoodles, the dog that caused the Doodle craze (and he did it for a friend who needed a guide dog that was easier on the allergies) calls it his "life's regret" and a "Frankenstein's monster".

edit: Also, one thing about German Shepherds I always heard is to always get a German Shepherd from a working line with a straight back and not a show line with a sloped back which has a lot of hip issues. I don't know why they have them with such sloped backs, especially since the actual police dogs, service dogs, and herders have straight backs. I don't get why the AKC even lets the slope back be the breed's standard when that is not the type of German Shepherd used for what the dog was bred for.

It depends on the reptile. Snakes only need to feed once or twice a week, and as long as they're small you could actually keep them in a bin like that. But when they grow larger you need to move them to a bigger tank. Snake breeders and zoos actually use this exact method to keep their hundreds of snakes in order:

This might look cruel to someone who isn't familiar with herpetology but for a hatchling this is good. The adults have bigger shelves like this:

Snakes don't care about verticality, so height is irrelevant, they just need room to move on the ground.

Had a co-worker at my old job who was into Bully-breeding. He sold them at ridiculous prices and bragged about how much money he made off of them. I can't imagine how much they suffered. Having to pretend I was cool with it for the sake of not making him go apeshit (he was a psycho who refused to cooperate under tension) was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

Persian cats are one example, or any flat faced cat breed for that matter. Obvious breathing problems aside, they also suffer from bad dental & eye diseases.

Then you also have Arabian horses that are a whole other league of fucked up.

Morality aside, how anyone finds any of these animals visually appealing is beyond me. They're painfully disgusting to look at, and this is coming from someone who works with "gross" looking animals. Seriously, any normal person looks at these animals and alarm bells immediately ring in their head, so how fucking exceptional must you be to think this is attractive?

Also like bulldogs Persian cats often need c-sections. In them it's more due to the queen not being able to breathe well enough so she just gets too exhausted to push after maybe one or two kittens.

Cats almost never need help birthing. Unlike dogs cats have managed to not have their genetics too fucked up by us so for the most part they can breed and birth with almost never needing human intervention.

The only cat C-section I ever saw was a Persian queen. It did not go well. We lost the litter because the owner waited too long and refused to let us spay her because she was still young. So we sewed her back up. Poor Lil squish-face.

Thing is he was very timid, too timid and part of me wonders if he was abused by someone when he was really young because he was especially afraid of men and it took three years for him to not be terrified. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if her husband had something to do with him behaving that way, he was kind of an asshole when I talked to him. He was bragging on how he would make, like 5,000 dollars from a man in the Netherlands who wanted his female blue bulldog puppy that was born around the time I was adopting the poodle

I will fully admit that I’m a filthy, unapologetic dog racist. But I also just find it insane that this isn’t an offshoot of a breed that’s already obscure or even one that’s in particularly high demand like poodle mixes are, it’s a specialized version of a type of dog that already has massive overpopulation problems. (Which is partially due to people who, like these breeders, gravitate towards fighting breeds because they want a tough-guy dog for status reasons.)

Any breed of animal that can’t naturally conceive or give birth has no business being bred.

And fuck these people that breed genetic abominations for profit. Those poor animals have no quality of life. I’d be shocked if any of those poor dogs made it to ten years old, and god help them if they did.

The problem is there’s no real regulation when it comes to breeding animals. Yes there’s laws about animal welfare but even with video or photo evidence it’s ridiculously hard to actually get a conviction let alone a sentencing that bans the people/person from having more animals.
And even if the person is banned from owing animals it’s near impossible to actually keep track and enforce the ban.

The problem is mostly that ‘Animal Cops’ (ASPCA etc) are horribly understaffed and under paid.

Another thing about this asshole that I forgot to mention--he'd go out, take bully shelter dogs, and sell those off as well without paperwork, if he wasn't breeding them out. Hated the idea of neutering his dogs and saw it as an affront to the dog's masculinity. But then when his main breeder bully starts having emotional problems and starts pissing everywhere, he just up and dumps it.

This guy was a fucking normie doing this shit. Used the pandemic as an excuse for making an easy buck. There are legit people out there that give no fucks about living creatures beyond profits.

Because the Kennel Clubs are worse than tradcaths when it comes to "following traditions." Most of the members have been in the KCs before time itself existed and they can still remember the marital issues of a lovely couple named Adam and Eve. It's all old money shit too, so for the AKC think Hunter Hearst Helmsley (not Triple H, his first gimmick) aged up by around a millennia and the stubbornness that comes with that age. Anyone who brings up changing the breed requirements is ignored or actively drummed out and they're also big on making sure ALL the KCs are on the same page. So if the JKC doesn't want to change it, the AKC and EKC will go along with it. They also don't let young people have a say until they "pay their dues" (read, share the profits and obey the SCs in charge of the club) and by then they're cranky old fogies themselves. Not to mention, getting in on it is impossible unless you know one of those cranky old fogies. It's a perfect storm of old money bullshit here in Current Year.

One other animal to put in horrible breeds; Scottish fold cats.

Yeah, they're ridiculously cute. But their ears fold due to weak cartilage. However that's just not targeted to the ears, you just can't breed to have weak cartilage in one place. It applies to everywhere the cat has cartilage which is fucking everywhere. Every Scottish fold develops debilitating joint pain as the cartilage in their joints wears off far quicker.

That's not all. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels usually have brains too big for their skulls, dalmatians are prone to kidney problems almost by default, and that cute snuffly sound flat faced dogs make? That's them trying to breathe.
