Personally, I think whether Youngkin wins or not depends on whether McAuliffe underperforms like he did last time. If McAuliffe is 4 points below the RCP average on election night, I suspect that Youngkin will win regardless of electoral "fortification".

My line of work though encourages you to assume a degree of pessimism in all predictions. It should be interesting. It would be pretty bad for dems if Youngkin wins. Considering how much they work hard to turn Virginia form a solid red state to a soild blue state. That it would basically be the beginning of that slowly fading away.

Not voting at all is the most smooth-brained option to take as it lets all sides decide for you why you didn't vote. The winners will claim it was voter depression/lack of enthusiasm and the losers will claim that you thought it was in the bag and therefore unnecessary. The sideliners will assume that you didn't think it was their time to shine just yet.

Not voting at all is a vote unto itself and arguably the worst vote of all.

That's pretty much me as well. I really think it should be a state choice. I am pro-life. But I really do think it should be a state decision if they want to have pro-life or pro-abortion laws.

My main concern is that this kind of iron-grip top-down "fed is the final say on all cultural issues" bullshit is the exact reason why states were supposed to be mostly independent to begin with. This shit is only going to get worse the more this happens and the cracks are already beginning to show. It's like everyone seemingly forgot that the first civil war occurred mainly due to federal overreach (aka this exact kind of shit) to begin with.

This is the most annoying aspect of our regular doomers. They either spout off about how the best thing to do is to do nothing and therefore continue our doom. A defeatist option. Or to claim somehow everything must be done, to the highest standards, right now. And it is not being done so obviously it is a total loss no reason to have even tried. Or the insane option.

Oh yes I agree. I find people have forgotten that states were ment to be more independent than they are wait now. Cultural issues should mostly be state issues. People truly forgets that history does repat it self
