What gets voters behind prosecutors is them being tough on crime. They need successful prosecutions to be seen as that. It makes quite the incentive for public prosecutors to go after whoever for whatever to get bodies behind bars. Add in bottomless funds and an insular system where the prosecution, judges, clerks, ect all work in the same building gets you things like Nifong and Binger.

Because no Grand Jury would choose to indict Rittenhouse if they were presented with the evidence available. Even without the drone footage.

This isn't like Chauvin where you have a copy smiling while kneeling on a dude's neck. In this case you have a naïve kid constantly offering water and medical assistance who reacted in a beyond reasonable manner. He never shot a single person who wasn't a direct threat on his life.

This might vary by state, but I was witness to a (relatively minor) crime once and I met with the prosecutor for a few minutes beforehand.

This is like a direct on a misdemeanor where the prosecutors don't have the resources to spend hours with all their witness, so they've talked to them for like ten minutes if theyte lucky.
