Love this, absolutely love it, but why are they crowing "directed verdict" instead of "motion to dismiss" on the murder charges?
A motion to dismiss is on the basis of the pleadings, and is made earlier in the case. It's usually either "they failed to state a proper claim," "they failed to properly serve," or "this court lacks jurisdiction." A motion for directed verdict is made at trial after the prosecution has finished making their case, on the grounds that the evidence actually submitted at trial could not permit a rational jury to find the defendant guilty.
