Ah, Justin Hammer (played by Sam Rockwell). An amusing, and moderately inept, secondary villain in IM2. Rockwell did a pretty good job with this guy; I also saw him in Moon, which was IMO one of the better 'hard' sci-fi films I'd seen since 2001.

The key for me is that it seemed almost like an unconscious reaction, ie a mental/emotional breakdown due to recall of extremely stressful events. It wasn't emotional so much as his system suddenly being flooded with adrenaline and fear, which is obvious when you consider that he was hyperventilating and struggling to breathe
I like to try and place myself in their shoes in earnest, to see if I can understand their viewpoint or see the case from other angles. Then I remember I'm not insane or ignorant of basic procedure (regardless of it being in another jurisdiction).
I initially thought it was a breakdown like you see people have in funerals and the like. Go from suddenly alright to breaking down crying, but on re-evaluation it does seem to be a panic attack, especially because of the hyperventilating. An already tense situation combined with probably the first time he's ever had to openly re-run that scenario out loud in incredible detail. That people are incapable of seeing a panic attack and just dismiss it as "fake crying" because of politics is just pathetic. It's not even sickening, just pathetic.

Almost eerily reminds me of the time Maxine Waters threatened jurors and Minneapolis PD for telling them to give Chauvin a guilty verdict. The prosecutor yelling at the judge, from my perspective, tried to influence the court’s outcome by (almost) manipulating the judge into giving him the guilty verdict.
He's guilty because the police didn't summarily execute him on the spot but they would have if he was black because we live in a society.
Fortunately, the judge has immense power and legal authority within his courtroom.
