Netflix announced a crap ton of adaptations yesterday. In addition to One Piece and Bebop we are also getting Yu Yu Hakusho, Gantz, Akira, etc and they aren't all just from Netflix.

How do you think they'll fuck up YYH? Botan will be a Satanist or Wiccan i think.

Linda Hunt will play Genkai

You Netflix rat bastards have gone too far this time!
that's my bread and butter.gif

the only good adaptation was the dragonball movie
If it were not Dragonball maybe it would've been better. At least, as a popcorn movie you could watch with your brain turned off. If we learned anything about subsequent live action anime adaptations it's that they only get worse, not better.

Have live action anime adaptations ever been more than okay or at most, pretty good? The last ones I saw were the ones for Diamond is Unbreakable and one of the Kaiji films.

I heard the Death Note one was better than the original crap (the live-action one made in Japan, not the Netflix one). Then again it looks like live action adaptations are more faithful to the source material when made in their own country but I could be wrong.

I am surprised though that Neftlix picked actors who actually look like the characters to play the cast of One Piece.

The question now is how crappy the story will be.

To be honest a live action One Piece could work if they just capture the spirit of the story rather than try to adapt too faithfully since it would be impossible to try to faithfully adapt all of One Piece

But it's the most bizarre how despite One Piece being the one that would work the least in live action, it has the best casting of the Netflix anime live action shit (especially compared to Death Note and Bebop which have awful casting which is ironic since those shows could've actually worked in live action)

Hey, Hollywood.
I know you have this idea that people want this shit but hear me out:
Pay the studios who made the anime and tell them to make more anime for you.
Don't make shitty live action versions, just make more anime.
People like to watch anime and having, for example, an exclusive One Piece movie or an Akira miniseries that covers all the manga, would get you subscriptions.
It would also be a lot cheaper to make an anime series, either that or you could pay like $50 million for an anime series and have next level production value that you can't get anywhere else.

These companies are so dumb, missing out on easy money.
