The thing with Nick's website is that it doesn't even require bots to artificially inflate the view count. He (his developer) can literally just put any number in there or any formula they want to calculate the number of live viewers being shown to the viewer.
I'm glad, but shouldn't be surprised, that others picked up on what we were seeing last night. Someone had clearly dropped the ball by letting the stream keep running, despite the show being cancelled. With that said, I made sure to save the receipts.
At 7:43 PM (my time) last night, Nick sent out the following message on his Telegram stating that the show had been cancelled.
This surprised me since his site was showing as live, albeit with just a black screen. What didn't make sense to me however was that the viewer count was near 3k and the chat was basically dead; just a handful of accounts were interacting. At this point, it was nearly half an hour since the cancelation announcement, so I figured it would be best to start documenting.
At 8:11 PM, 28 minutes after the cancelation, I took the following screen recording on my phone. I made sure to scroll up and down in the chat box on each one so that there could be no mistake about what was actually happening or any accusations, expressed internally amongst the Groypers, that I had somehow edited the video. At this time, there was 2.8k viewers.
8:26 PM; 2.6k viewers
8:40 PM; 2.5K viewers
I stopped paying attention after I made the 8:40 PM video. By that point, nearly an hour after the show was announced as cancelled, I figured the evidence I collected was conclusive enough to show that the numbers are bogus. The drop from 2.8k to 2.5k over that 30 minute period I took screen recordings from seemed like what one would expect. 300 people realizing that nothing was happening and closing the tab seems realistic. What isn't realistic is 2.5k viewers still watching and a dead chat. 2.5k is roughly 40% of the alleged 6k peak viewers that his website reports.
In a previous post, I had alluded to other inconsistencies with the numbers his website reports. I'm being lazy about posting it, but have been documenting the subscriber numbers for basically all the channels for a couple weeks now. It's all bullshit. The numbers aren't real. Some haven't changed in weeks, some have grown, and others have dropped significantly. This is unexplainable for what should be a scripted process. You hit the sub button and the number goes up by one. It's that simple and the only way you fuck it up is by doing it on purpose.
Unfortunately none of this matters to the Groyper Cult. Nick will simply tell them that the website is in beta and the bugs are being worked out. I'm not sure which scenario would be funnier though; Nick yelling at his developer to cook the books or his developer acting on his own to cook the books and not letting Nick know his audience is probably half of what he thinks it is.
