I feel like thats usually a basic requirement before you start arguing with people about how the way you live is righteous and you are better than everyone else. I don't see how you're better off because you choose to live off of the dole rather than be married. If someone is married, she can always go on the dole later if she wants to. Getting government aid isn't "having your own income source." It's getting the bare minimum you need to not die on the street. If you had been married to a decent earner and later the marriage went sideways, you'd be far ahead of where you are now. You'd have finished law school and you'd own at least half of the marital home. And you'd have someone to collect a reasonable amount of child support from. And you could still collect welfare if you needed it.
