Anyone who uses OCD as a excuse for poor impulse control is full of shit. From my experience dealing with it for most of my life its not impulsive, its compulsive. It doesn't affect regular impulse control, it makes menial tasks compulsive if that makes sense.Yeah considering how I've seen some people use it to excuse going through with their impulses like ADHD and Autism as a criticism shield this year I'd have to agree. unlike the others OCD is more directly tied to impulsiveness but the way people that have "OCD" do it is wildly inconistent with actual OCD.
Things like turning the stove off. I know its off, it clearly says so. But now I gotta check every other stove burner to make sure those are off too even tho I know I didn't use them. Then I have to check all of them a second time, and a third time, and a fourth time, oops I got interrupted now I need to check it a 5th time. And then a sixth time.
Only way to end it is through acknowledging you know its off and dismissing any further thoughts on the matter as OCD and try to fight it like a bad itch trying to get you to scratch it. This turns a 5 second task into a 10 - 20 minute one
I wouldn't be surprised if Troon Sterling doesn't actually have OCD and is just using it for twitter likes because being "neuro divergent uwu" is all the rage on Twitter these days
