Last time I saw conversation about it around these parts, the federal statute (at least) stipulates the drawings have to be of real children.

I don't see how you could ever enforce it, otherwise. It's trivially easy to say "but this character is actually 18/30 and on his third divorce/a thousand year old succubus". Will the state get an expert witness to examine the meeting point of the thigh and buttock to refute that point?
