Said a short thing earlier in the A&N thread when I found out. At the time I was doing 3 things successfully that Lowtax wasn't: 1) being at work, 2) taking a shit, 3) being alive
Finally read through the past 40odd pages.
Like I said, it's unsurprising, but still kinda sad. I guess he didn't have another ending coming. I have posted on SA for over 20 years (and still do--you'll never catch me Jeffrey!). I remember when it was edgy and creative and cool. It complimented and shaped my humor. And the format, such as exists here and in vanishing areas online, is my preferred "social media" experience.
Lowtax gets a lot of blame for the downfall of SA, and his sin was that of not caring, not trying, wasting opportunities. He let it fall into what it became and did nothing to stop it. But that was built into the DNA of the site, because from the very beginning he was hands off, just wanted to retreat, shitpost, or write "funny" articles. He was an absentee site owner while his jannies like Al, JRE, Rainbow Blight, and Fistgrrl were duking it out to control the site in fucking 2000-2001.
In his personal life he was a shitshow and I have no sympathy for him or his BPD exes, just for the kids. But with those parents, they were always going to have a tough row to hoe.
