Not all animals make for good disease reservoirs (at least for people). Dogs can contract human influenza, but they can't spread it to people like pigs or many birds can. And genetically most major viruses that jumped species like measles (human rinderpest, a now-extinct cow disease) came from cows, pigs, or horses, essentially never dogs (despite how long humans have lived around dogs), sheep, goats, etc. Or other primates for that matter like AIDS or ebola. That's why Africa has always been a hellhole of disease, because people evolved there alongside apes with numerous diseases that makes it easy for diseases to cross species when some guy doesn't wash his hands after butchering a monkey for bushmeat.I dont say an imminent danger no but i wouldnt say centuries. All it takes is a colony of cats to have an endemic outbreak that changes the structure of the virus just enough and then coof that variant onto a catlady somewhere and you have a super mutation with 50% mortality Ide say 50 years..will happen eventually.
Most people dont interact with pigs whereas cats are different. We love cats...they keep rodents away and offer compaionship. Pigs are literally just bacon to most people
I'm not sure which animal the 1889-90 "influenza" (really a coronavirus) pandemic came from but it was probably not a dog or a cat. There's cat and dog coronaviruses, but they've never crossed species before.
But this is Clown World, so all you have is QAnon and Trump. Probably. Hopefully not.I don't know what religion is true but I'm just hoping one is. I'm getting a nihilist dread that it's all pointless and there will never be any justice. I've just waiting on Jesus Christ, or Moschiah ben David, or Maitreya, or Kalki, or Barbarossa, or the Madhi, or Arthur, or...
