I think you and this comment got it right. The change is too sudden and she moves there too theatrically to be random. I really have to laugh, thinking back to all the I made it very clear that I'm not one to be bossed around comments she made in that historical video someone posted earlier. He's testing her and she jumps on every new rule he comes up with, however bizarre. The only limit he has found so far is that no one bans her from fast food.

Anyone puzzling over how this Nader-good-Nader-evil merry-go-round can repeat so often, must be forgetting how utterly convinced she was each time she started a new diet that this would be the time it would work.

Every new diet (in the old days) she would be so convinced that this time was the time she would lose all that weight, and show us losers, that she would bin all her frozen food, buy crates of unripe mangoes, talk about not ever using shampoo again as she was natural now, sign up for the gym and a personal trainer, etc.

Each spin of the diet-on, diet-off wheel would serve us an even more delusional Chantal. Not merely restricting calories, but convinced she could go vegan, then fruitarian, then raw food only, even down to the infamous 30 day water fast, and the diet dictated by a ghost.

Each time she would be so certain, and each time she fell off the diet she would be swinging wildly back to full on grease binges, telling us, “YES! I KNOW! I don’t wanna hear about it!”.

So it is with the love arc. Each time it’s on, it’s getting more and more intense. Friends with benefits, boyfriend, moving in together plans, now engagement rings, convinced it will work this time.

Each time she falls out with him she swings wildly back the other way.

It will go on and on, and get more and more dramatic, and I love it.

It's obviously terrible of Chantal to not use money specifically donated for that purpose to take her poor matted cats to the vet, especially after another cat in the household just died, but Vegan4Life is an idiot and does not deserve her money back imo. Nothing about Chantal's pattern of life should have made her think she'd use that money on anything but drugs, food, or Nader's rent. Don't ever give someone a gift with expectations - especially a cluster B clusterfuck you met on the internet.

The most consistent thing about Chantal is her refusal to respond to "fan" mail.

From the beginning of her channel - I'm talking make-up tutorial era - she has been swearing to catch up on emails, promising to read private messages, promising responses to anyone who questioned her. You only needed to hear her do it two or three times before it was clear that she never intended on responding to anyone. She'd promise the same commenters that she'd "get to it today" for months and months, just like she does now. This was back when she only had a couple thousand viewers and was justifying her binges by pretending that watching her mukbangs was social, like having dinner with a friend. A friend that acknowledged you sent messages but never bothered to respond, even after promising to.

Eventually those declarations of "catching up on email" stopped, presumably because all of the people who tried to contact her realized she was a lazy liar who would never respond. She probably started blocking those people who were too insistent.

It was one of the earliest signs that she was a self-absorbed bitch that had no problem flat-out lying to the audience she was trying to manipulate into thinking she was their friend. The ridiculousness of the repeated promises to "catch up on emails today, guys, I swear" were always annoying.
