Just an observation, considering the amount of money raised and interaction in chat vs the lack of comments in this thread and activity on this sub for the event, it does seem apparent RT has been more successful getting more people back to using the site this past year and a half than a lot of people realized.

This has been a fun Extra Life, it's smaller, but they're making up for it by having as much fun as they can!

I think it's kind of funny how there are people complaining that it's too planned and organized and not crazy enough now (it's only a 12 hour stream and we know the craziness usually starts after mignight when not in the middle of a pandemic) and also there are people who only want to watch certain segments and complain that the scheduling isn't clear enough.
You just can't please everybody.

People complain every single year (they have even before the pandemic; "I don't know who these people are!!!") but then they come back the next year and say they wish it was like the previous year lol

I still love RT and Extra Life, but there were 11 or so other people at the end of that bit, and other than Kaiti I didn't recognize a single one of them.

Yup. Was busy all day. I went on youtube live and rewinded to the AH part... Except for Larry, I was unable to name anyone else. I watched a bit then stopped because I didn't feel engaged in what was happening. I hope nice dynamite segment will be awesome...

That's 2k for one channel. If you add up all three main channels (RT, AH, and FH) you have about 6k viewers. And I think we'll see how good their viewership is this year depending on how much they raise by the end. With the COVID restrictions keeping them to 12 hours, that limits their reach to international fans, so they may not break $1 million this year. But they've yet to get to Team Nice Dynamite, and a large portion of the fandom typically save their money to make it rain during their segment.

Yeah, none of the "talent" seem to be there. It's all production people which is weird. It's not the same watching a bunch of strangers doing stuff.

So why was no-one from the main AH crew in the AH portion? The whole segment really highlighted the difference between on-screen talent and behind-the-scenes people. KY and Jack were trying but overall it was so boring.

Did they do that thing where they'd rip up a pack of Pokemon cards whenever someone donated a specific amount? Ray talked about it on his stream the other day and I don't know, it just seems like a weird incentive. Ultimately it's really kind of a non-issue, what you do with the cards after you buy them is your business and they're doing it for charity but it's just... kind of wasteful. Like I don't want to be the loser who's crying about how some poor disadvantaged child could've had those cards but the idea of adult men destroying what is essentially a children's toy rubs me the wrong way.

They were talking about it during the Zelda randomized stream. Penn State trademarked it. While they still technically can use it and say it, the main charity won’t retweet it and help spread the word if they use the term 4 the kids.

Why not? They've already bought them, and they're doing a livestream to raise money for charity. Wouldn't the better incentive be "For every [x] amount donated we'll throw in a pack of Pokemon cards at the local children's hospital (or other place) on us!" rather than "Watch us destroy perfectly good property!"?

Usually when I see someone going all "think of the children!!!" they're moralizing over something stupid and I didn't want to come off like that but you make a good point. Anyway I can't find any proof that ripping up cards actually was an incentive so maybe it was only something they were considering but decided not to do.

I should have read the whole thread first but we'll double post instead. What a bunch of dum dums, I think it's perfectly valid to be at least a little upset over this since those could have either gone to people in need (almost like an act of further charity or something) or they could have been auctioned off for at least a bit more donation money. It is well documented that people will be more inclined to knowingly overbid if the proceeds are going to charity.

Oh dear lord, apparently they are going on "tour" again, if you can even call it that. Who the fuck would even consider going to see these people play video games live, like it's a concert or something? I thought this idea was stupid when they first started doing it, but at least back then they had some actually funny people working there. Now all those people are gone or don't even show up in vids anymore, and have been replaced with nothing but unfunny people. I can't wait to see the cringe that comes out of this.

I saw FunHaus and AH when they came to Baltimore and got to meet them afterwards. I had a great time and I even though I don't watch them anymore, I don't regret it all because it was when I enjoyed them and the people that worked there. (I mean seeing Bruce dressed up as a Native American to wrestle was incredible but now people would REEEE about it). I couldn't imagine seeing them now, though.
