Inactive Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka - Deadbeat (emphasis on "Dead") founder of Something Awful, forced out of his own community, on his second divorce, stuck his dick in crazy, "Birth Giver"

Ultimately, he either banned too many or not enough trannies, depending on whom you ask. I guess the lesson is to just pick a side, no half measures.
Lowtax should have learned from the Samnites.
(dramatization)
And verily, Lowtax had captured the troons and had them at his mercy to demod and ban if he wished. He wrote his younger daddy Null, who PMed back that he should kill ban them all, down to the last IT'S MA'AM. He must leave none left with privileges. Lowtax, in his indolence, did not want to take such measures. After all, who was going to run the site? Him? Fuck that. He messaged Null back that maybe that wasn't the best answer. Null's next message left Lowtax confused, as it was the polar opposite of the first- to let the troons run the site, give in to them completely.

Lowtax, popping a pill, thought Null was crazy and skyped him to find out wtf. Null explained that there was no middle ground with troons. You must either give them everything they want and live with the consequences, or rid them from any position of power. Getting rid of them would be the best option as they would be as powerless to the site as they are in real life. However, if Lowtax didn't want to actually figure out how to do work himself (or actually pay for it to be done), he'd better just sit back and make as much money as he could off them instead of making waves.

Lowtax, hopped up on whatever was within reach, decided to take neither option. Instead he pissed off the troons but left their brooms intact. He gained no friends but gave his enemies power. Also, he stuck his dick in crazy.

Not true, the 4chan split happened only because Lowtax banned anime loli pedo shit so they created 4chan to enjoy the anime fetish shit that SA banned. Furries were also detested and banned onsite for years.

It would seem the few times Lowtax did try to clean out an degenerate infection the disease just went a flourished elsewhere.

this is a false narrative btw

Can someone explain why everyone seems to hate this guy? Sure he's a moron, but he hasn't actually done anything that bad as far as I'm aware

He was a pillhead who had opportunities drop in his lap for him to squander due to laziness. In particular his laziness caused a fun, interesting internet place to turn to shit.

So its sort of like watching the retarded rich kid next door smash up his ferrari. There are tons of morons just like him doing more or less that same thing, but this is one egregious because you are acutely aware of it.

Lay down with trannies, wake up as part of the 41%, etc.

He wasn't Hitler or anything but he was, consistently, an asshole who burned every bridge in his life.

Like, off the top of my head - Al, FOOKOOF, isnoop, OMGWTFBBQ, Shmorky, Fragmaster, Fistgrrl, elpintogrande, jfjnpxmy, Bumpasaurus, jre, jrr, Omnipressive, Leafwife, Chinkwife, Integral, elf pr0n, Some Girl, artfag, Livestock, TylerK, Fatherdog, radium, Zen Death Robot, MacBeath, Gabe and Tycho, Maddox, Mormon Borderline Coke Whore, his kids.

A wide and disparate group of people, all of whom were fairly close collaborators with Lowtax at some point, all of whom severed ties with him, with varying degrees of acrimony. Writing off such a pattern as "LOL U GOONS MAD ABOUT TRANNIEZ AND 10BUX" is pretty disingenuous.

Dude was consistently a petty, capricious dick, who expected everyone to do everything his way, and blew up at them the second they didn't, and showed 0 gratitude for the ridiculous levels of totally unearned loyalty and favours he was showered with over the years. He also lucked into stewardship of a site that was, for a time, genuinely great, and fucked it over through short-sightedness and laziness. And, for a loooong run there, the universe actually rewarded him for his being a self centred, moody grifter, so it's only natural people were rooting against him, and it's only natural that people wanna piss on the grave a little.

Not sure if anyone gives a shit anymore but we got "Death Investigation" in the Lee's Summit PD police blotter for the 9th (under District 7). Can someone cross reference the address with what we have on LowT?

MO Law to my knowledge does not require an Obit, not like we need it to confirm what we already know.

I don't know if we ever got the new address. 707 ne swann circle was sold 2\26\21 for 193k. Now, I don't imagine Richard bought a home, but this same address was listed as having "rentals" on the apartments.Com for 1500\mo.

I don't know if the pictures match anything rich streamed though.

Immigration is expensive but the actual legal process breaks the cost down over literal years. It costs around $3,500 to do a Fiancee Visa and think the Spousal Visa is similar cost. Granted you throw a lawyer into the mix and the cost likely rises. But they already messed up the moment Ashli decided to just Overstay the visa.

Part of those processes does depend on the US Citizen spouse being able to prove they can support a partner too. Which means giving at least 3 years of Tax Returns and being over the poverty line in terms of earnings. Not sure if all that Tax he owed would of meant he was screwed in that regard.

Regardless. He still abandoned his wife and young kid to get some crazy pussy. Then wanted to deport her for daring to leave in response.

You won't be aware of this but you are a stupid cunt. It's only fair I warn you because most stupid cunts are blissfully unaware of how much they look like a stupid cunt. From there they start infecting other people with their stupidity and cunty like behaviour.

Take some time out of the next week and read this thread (that Lowtax used to post in) and all will become clear and it will be a big step in you not looking like a stupid cunt, hopefully.

It would be nice to have a full list of all of Lowtax's biggest business fuck-ups. The fuck-ups that are just mind-boggling to consider. He had so many opportunities thrown at him, and he would have had to risk little or nothing.

Off the top of my head, I can think of these.

First, when the creator of GBS.tv offered to let Lowtax have the streaming platform that he had built, and help Lowtax integrate it with Something Awful, FOR FREE. This would have been like Twitch + Youtube. Lowtax turned him down. Why? Who knows. FYAD was not a fan of that user, which may have been a part of it. Lowtax was still obsessed with FYAD thinking he was cool, and he thought GBS was lame despite it being the core of the actual forums community. FYAD posters bullied him, and he requested a permaban. He ended up being one of the founding Facebook engineers, and is now a multi-millionaire.

Second, when Yahtzee approached Lowtax with the pitch for Zero Punctuation. Lowtax offered to pay him in SA forums credit. Yahtzee then went to The Escapist. It's not nearly as popular as it used to be, but I have no doubt it generated millions of dollars per year in ad revenue. It was INCREDIBLY popular for a few years.

Third, Lowtax refusing countless offers throughout the years from goons who wanted to fix or replace the forums codebase for free. Lowtax could have accepted this free help, or he could have spent money on hiring a team of devs. Instead, he kept Radium as the sole dedicated dev, while providing what was most likely an overall net-negative contribution himself. I now wonder how much SA forums downtime was simply a result of Lowtax trying to change something in the forums' single environment, and breaking the entire thing.

He had thousands of loyal users capable of producing professional-grade content, and he never took advantage of that past Photoshop Phriday. Worse, he slowly drove them all off the site through a combination of neglect, disdain, and abuse.

I just noticed I had a post from someone on my Steam Profile from some time ago....needless to say this was unexpected...

Bans for sport=10buxes in his pocket. So to a -certain- extent bad mods were a feature, not a bug to ol' Rich.

That's a big reason why I never got on too. It seemed at best like a game of minesweeper on hard mode.
I once noticed the forums and realized they charged $10 and thought "lmao that's a funny idea." I never even considered signing up after that.

The ten bucks made superficial sense in the early 2000s. It wasn't uncommon for privately hosted bulletin boards to go down partway through the month after hitting a bandwidth cap, or for even static sites to crumple under the tiniest surge of interest. SA was huge and super active, especially by the standards of the time, so the idea of there being a genuine need for users to help cover server costs was believable enough. Of course, it seemed that the forum never got any less expensive or difficult to run, even as decades passed and the rest of the web progressed.

I would love to know how many whales there were as far as forum purchases went. Some people would get into back and forth avatar changing wars with each other, while others would go on spending sprees, tossing "Platinum" status and other forum whatnots to whoever sucked up in the right way. And the whole time they'd be patting themselves on the back for supporting the beloved "community" that they mistook for a network of friends and not a collection of random spergs and psychos.

That, and, forums in the early 2000s didn't really have distinct cultures or etiquette in place, so it wasn't easy to find anywhere to discuss video games without a bunch of mouthbreathing retards shitting things up. In fact, if you want that very experience, just check out GameFAQs' forums. They're frozen in time, with many of the same retards that drove people like me to cough up ten bucks to an unfunny tyrant who'd later blow his brains out at age 45. Just replace the modern troons there with edgy fedora atheists, and you have a perfect snapshot of what forums were like on ye olde internet. Look, we have a thread on them where I posted a whole bunch.

There were a number of people who would actually pay up to change their avatars into holiday/seasonal variants, five bucks at a time. There also used to be a website out there somewhere where you could see someone's avatar history, because old avatars were saved forever and new ones were just named something like (n)-2.jpg, with the number incrementing for each avatar.

If the avatar's of a different file extension, it'll be named (n).png or .gif, and then incremented whenever they get a new avatar with that same extension, so if someone had five avatars total, two PNGs and three JPGs, with the 5th being a JPG, their newest one would be named something like (n)-3.jpg.

I really wish I still knew that site, because I checked around and found some people with just, endless numbers of them. Not even mods, either, who I guess could change theirs for free, but I'm sure there are dozens of retards out there that have dropped four figures on avatar changes alone.

I remember the Alienware fuck-up, dudes sent him a brand new computer at a screaming deal back in the day, and something happened a month later (too much troon hentai) and lowtax screamed on the forums about how shit it was even after they issued a full refund and paid for return shipping. Acted like a spoiled brat.
