Nick's stream has a good discussion on balancing the right of free speech with the right to a fair trial when it comes to protestors outside court houses influencing juries.

I tend to be on the very pro-free speech side of things. But I do not think people are unduly hindered in expressing and promoting their view by having those protests at another location, especially when balanced with the right to a fair trial and the risk of jury intimidation. Especially assuming protestors of both views would not be allowed at the courthouse.

A society that becomes so divided against itself that individuals are terrified of each other and feel helpless to protect their lives from being destroyed — whether by physical violence or by any other means — neither wants nor deserves freedom. Freedom is a privilege afforded to societies whose people can be trusted to not devour each other alive when the lights go out.
