That's even worse, it's basically mob rule at that point. When people, even from starkly different political sides, get to know each other's names and have to speak to one another then it's a better chance they'll make the right decision. If you want to see how 100s of jurors would look like, take a look at any of the youtube videos where protestors and counter-protestors meet up and start fist fighting. In a crowd you can safely shout and scream with your fellow leftists/right-wingers, but when you remove that dynamic things are generally much more calm.

Frankly at this point, even if Kyle gets a full acquittal I've lost ANY faith in the justice system. This is beyond ridiculous. There is NO WAY this trial should still be going on. The prosecutors should be disbarred at minimum.
