Are we still sharing stories? A fat hairy troon showed up to what should have been a local meeting for biological women only, and the group split afterwards.
I've been lucky and haven't had to deal with troons in my career field (yet). Mostly I just see meltdowns online and have a good laugh. While I've never supported the mutilation of one's genitals over a mental problem, peer pressure echo chambers, or to fuel a degenerate lifestyle, I was reminded earlier this year that laughing at these freaks isn't helping reduce the spread of their insanity. Back in March one of my coworkers told me about a local endometriosis support group. I won't go into what endometriosis is or the pain it can cause, but I will say that it affects the female reproductive system, so this disease is only found in biological women. You probably already know where this is going.
The group wanted everyone to fill out some info online before attending any meetings. It was stuff like how long we had been diagnosed, how active we were, what medications we've tried, and so on. At first everything seemed okay, then on page two I was asked if I was a "male birthing person" or a "black male birthing person". I didn't expect that, but I should have. I live ass deep in the south, and sadly my once quiet area (that was mostly free of this plague aside from the occasional screeching college student that was allowed in courtesy of affirmative action) has been flooded with lunatics from blue cities who have unpacked their dangerous ideologies and are determined to spread them like STDs. I've been trying to move away all year.
I was pissed. I called my coworker and asked her if she had filled out the info herself, she said no. I kept her on the phone while I continued filling out information, which I was only doing at that point to see how much worse it got. I should have taken screenshots and archived it; it's all gone now. The acknowledgement of troons at all, including "male birthing person", made my brain overheat and shut down like a Dell laptop. Men can't give birth. Men do not have female sex organs; they cannot experience diseases exclusive to biological women. Why is this so hard to understand? Why is this being ignored? I'm tired of the inclusivity, I never wanted these fetishists in my spaces in the first place.
I didn't go to any meetings, but my coworker did out of curiosity. She said the first meeting she attended was the same one where a man showed up, then the group was axed. That man is a local freak who worked at a nearby Waffle House and would REEEEEE whenever anyone got his pronouns wrong. He's fat, has a beard, balding, dresses in men's clothes, smells like cat urine, but he insists he's a beautiful woman because he wears dollar store lip gloss and nail polish. I was told that during the meeting he continuously talked over women who were discussing lifestyle changes to help manage endo symptoms, and complained about how much it would cost him to get a stink ditch and breast implants. He hit on several of the ladies and called one a "misogynist" for rejecting him and declared she was lying about being engaged. After he left there was a huge fight over who thought it was okay to invite troons, and no one owned up to it. No one attempted to revive the group, but my coworker introduced me to a few of the women from the meeting. They all had stories about how they were blasted at some point over suggesting that men don't use women's bathrooms, or that maybe that 14 year old isn't trans but just wants attention, or that perhaps medication would be more useful than lots of expensive surgeries that might not make make the bad thoughts go away but instead increase them. A lot of women are not okay with this. The ones who are want their social media likes and reddit upvotes, and as soon as some deranged man with tangled hair and a skirt shows up in their space they'll change their tune real quick. Some people have to learn the hard way, some of us were canaries in the coal mine from the start, and our fellow woman said we were bigots. I feel especially sad for lesbians, who have been speaking out against this mess for decades while other people assume they were championing it all along by LGBT association. Many of the Ls, Gs, and Bs have wanted to drop the T for a long time.

I used to have a fairly neutral if not slightly negative opinion toward her because she was mildly annoying on twitter back in the day, but I've really grown to admire how she's been handling this shitshow. She proved to have actual principles that she'll stand by, even if they're unpopular, and she has the sense to not get dragged completely into the culture war. Rowling tweeted a couple of threads, then fully clarified her position in an essay and then she mostly left the conversation to pursue RL interests. She tweets about this once every couple of months at most, and is always reasonable when she does. Which stands in stark contrast to the absolutely insane 24/7 seething troons engage in whenever she's so much as mentioned. It's hilarious, she's letting them do all her work for her - they come off as completely unhinged which makes her look better.
The funniest thing is that, to some extent, I think the troons ARE right that she's crypto-terfing. She follows some really aggressive radfem accounts, so (imo) she's definitely hiding just how much contempt she has for AGPs. But she's good at playing Nice Older Lady With Reasonable Concerns and TRAs don't really have a tactic other than screeching loudly, so it's the perfect storm.
I don't like to waste money on the culture war and I'm not a big fan of her books, but since Rowling runs a legit charity for abused children, I decided to show my appreciation for her by donating to that.
