There are so many people out there who can't afford legitimate legal counsel. Public defenders might try but they are loaded with other cases they'd rather get you a plea deal to get your off of their plate.
Don't even get me started on the number of people locked up for weed. Our justice system is fucked.

Thats why NEUTRAL political education is crucial. You don't have to use a lense in order to view how your countries laws are made, which institutions administrate which domain and what was the intention behind it. Ah, nah. No need to apologize, I don't take these things personally. If something you said doesn't apply to me, why would I? I just wanted to point out some people from my general political perspective actually do agree with you on some fundamental things.

We share them in common. And it's honestly time this fucking country gets its shit together and we start moving forward on these basic things we actually do agree about.

My bet is that these government officials are so busy they're too out of touch to know anything about these people and just make assumptions, & they literally don't know any of the above you mentioned. I get a lot of "half-baked" vibes from the left these days.

Everyone, particularly those who can't afford to mount a strong defense with good lawyers, cough cough poor dumb blacks, and with GoFundMe actively preventing such people from raising money, how much extra worse such a setup would be.
