Personally I wouldn't be sure of how much of it is irrelevance of things domestic news might cover, and how much of it is that US issues make for a great distraction from internal problems domestic news would normally cover.

Why do they always chant such menacing shit? Are people not supposed to take that threat at face value? I really can't think of any other way to take that statement other than they're literally want to burn every police precinct in the country. How they can still be considered "mostly peaceful" by the majority of the population is beyond me.

I know no one asked (and for all I know this kind of thing has already been posted, forgive me as I haven't been able to catch up with the entirety of this thread yet) but here's a map of where everything went down. Keep in mind that the area roughly triangulated by the courthouse, the burned car lot, and the first shooting area is pretty much where all the video footage you've seen took place. The riots were basically centralized in the park between the high school and the court house north of it, and all the action (the dumpster fires, the shootings themselves, etc.), all took place within a few blocks along Sheridan road, one of the main thorughfares through town.

(I marked where I used to live on this map for someone else, feeel free to ignore).
