He strikes me as an above-average sized fish in the context of the Charlottesville, VA legal pond. The most noteworthy part of his CV is the sheer length of time he's been in the game: 40+ years is nothing to sneeze at. I just found the notion of someone linking to his SL page as evidence that he's a high power attorney to be needing context. We know that shit is just for marketing, but people outside the industry probably don't.

I totally agree. That said, he's not facing down the wrath of a huge prosecutor's office, so being a larger fish in that pond is probably good enough since the situation is also entirely within said pond. The wild card is that Consolvo seems to be new to the C-ville area. He was previously a prosecutor in Norfolk, so he has experience with metropolitan crime, and only became commonwealth attorney of Greene County in 2020. Thus Heilberg's relationship with him is fairly new since Greene County doesn't have many cases in the first place given how tiny it is. The judge probably knows Heilberg well, but I don't know how many cases Heilberg has taken in Greene County since 2020, this may be the first non-boilerplate case he's interacted with Consolvo in.

With any luck they're working together well and a solution will be found that's best for everyone. Consolvo seems to be heavily invested in protecting individual liberties (he ran on 2nd and 4th amendment platforms) so I think his heart may be in the right place vs. just trying to get the most brutal wins that he can. Reasonable prosecutors make a community a good place. There's a sweet spot between leftist prosecutors that don't do shit (I'm looking at you, Chesa Boudin) and the extreme authoritarian type.

He gets an automatic pittance payment of like $120 or something just for showing up, and then an hourly fee in the mid-high two digits that he has to clear with the judge, up to a cap that is somewhere in the mid four digits. I am not sure what the cap is, the law I can find is kind of obtuse and the distinction of it being in J&DR court makes it weirder as most of the allowances refer to attorneys representing juveniles. In a circuit court rape case he'd be getting $90/hr up to $5000.

Private attorneys are either strongly encouraged or required (depending on jurisdiction) to take public cases a certain amount of the time. Heilberg is filling this role now. He can either treat this as charity work and donate the money, or use it as free money if he has spare time between regular clients and he'd rather be working than just chilling in the gaps.

It is not like his delusion of goddesshood and the Merge which are obvious fantasies; he described how he had to groom his mom, get her used to his touch. Wear down her defenses against the molestation before he actually performed various sexual acts with her, and when doing so he described her reacting to it as one would expect a 80+ woman getting her dusty, dry vag pounded by her autismo son would.

Especially if I was already on the Fed's shit list like Null. Dude is almost 40 and can't take responsiblity for his own actions.

Now...who gets those freebie hours from the "good" lawyers (read: nose-connected) wouldn't surprise anyone. The "good" lawyers still don't do court appointed representation. They are able to source their own sob stories (usually merchant class types that are skilled at LARPing as broke on paper) or friends/family referrals. We are talking about ethics and lawyers here after all....

Go on Tinder. Swipe right EVERYONE. Look at the number of sad, lonely, fat people you match who INSTANTLY send a message because the highlight of their day is thinking someone genuinely showed interest in them and wasn't just swiping everyone.

I think that's why Chris has, and never will be, rated as actually being insane. He's too upfront and pushy with his delusions, and they always vanish when he needs to talk about something important. I don't get why people are saying he's nuts, he literally comes up with, retcons, modifies and works with ideas until they're at a point where he likes them. If something else comes up, then it gets added on. If something he runs by someone else is deemed unfavorable, or favorable, then that gets modified.

The elaborate excuses he comes up with is also a prime indication of not being crazy. You can see how he keeps modifying past events into ways he can talk about them and be the victim every time. TooManyGames got retconned into a trolling plot. Sex with Barb was just him getting his dick wet, but more time with the bible turns it into Chris actually saving her.

Someone who was legitimately nuts wouldn't go through that system of modifying bad events into something more favorable for Chris isn't something someone who is legitimately insane would do.

Insane and hopeless people often lack the simplest self preservation tactics which Chris has none of.

Chris is well aware of his actions and the consequences thereof. He simply cannot stop himself from indulging in his narcissism and debauchery.
